So, Loredo told me to meet him at night, after I beat the living hell out of hte executioner and saved Zoltan and Dandelion. Given my time with Skyrim, I assume he means whenever I get the chance, but could he possibly mean THAT night? If I wait too long will he get mad, or am I free to pursue side quests?

This game is free of "tonight means this night only" restrictions. If you have something better for Geralt to do on his first night in town, go ahead; Loredo will be there tomorrow night and every night until you decide Geralt had better show up.
