Okay perhaps I am overlooking something here. In chapter 2, elf side, I am on that flickering hearts quest. The one where I am supposed to check some bodies in the dwarven catacombs. Now I have been all over the place and am clearly missing something.

I did get a key after sex with an elf woman. I used that key, went through the door and found that back path to the bottom of the harpy pit. There is a door at the bottom there, but it is locked. I found a door by the old ship, but it is also locked and just on the other side of that door I unlocked by the elf woman I slept with was yet another locked door.

Some folks mentioned a dwarf statue? I found that shrine like thing with a head that I suppose could be a dwarf, but that is it. I cannot find the catacombs anywhere. If anybody could help, I would be very grateful

If you are trying to get to the catacombs, you are going in the way wrong direcction. Go back to the entrance of Vergen, then, facing out the go up the stairs to your right. You will run behind some stones and encounted the non human camp, where iorveth usually is. Keep going straight through. You will find a wooden door that goes through a short wooden shaft, and then back outside again. You should be right next to a flowing river and waterfall. The catacombs you are looking for are in that area. If you are looking for evidence, you will also need a pair of "surgical toolls." They can be found on the vert first merchant near vergens gate, a female human selling stuff.

You are going the wrong way. You have to go North.
