...am finding the same troubles that people were having pre-patch, in that my launcher continually tries to download Troll DLC yet can never do so because of an error writing files. I should point out that the launcher also can't seem to stay online.

I followed the instructions in the DLC FAQ; running patched from within the game-directory, but to no avail. I also copy/pasted the 'Patcher_GOG' file I got when retrieving the patch, also to no avail.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

If you open up Regedit and go to the entry for Witcher 2 Downloads, just delete the entries under downloads and your issue will go away. It worked for me.

I appreciate your response, but I have to confess to being out of my depth. I went into regedit, but am a bit intimidated by the obscurity of what to do next. I dinked around in the hkey_user entry (or whatever it is) and got paranoid about messing around w/ things I don't know about.

Anyway, could you please spell out the process for me in very basic steps? I would greatly appreciate it.

Just search the forums. This is apparently a known problem and has been discussed already. Here's a good explanation (by Oscopter) of what you can try: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/wont_download_dlc_error

By double-clicking the binaries at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CD Projekt RED\The Witcher 2\Downloads you can see what they stand for in the value data, for example like this:
>...$.P.o.l.i.s.h. .v.o.i.c.e.-.o.v.e.r.s.......

If you are nervous with removing exact values try this (backup/export your save first if you have any):
1. Uninstall Witcher 2.
2. delete any witcher 2 folders in "program files" (may be under GOG) the uninstaller left behind.
3. Edit the registry and remove these two registry folders:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CD Projekt RED\The Witcher 2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CD Projekt RED\The Witcher 2 (if this exists)
4. disconnect your computer from the Internet (this prevents any autoupdates by the autoinstaller)
5. Reinstall Witcher 2
6. install the 1.1 patch manually
7. reconnect the Internet to your computer.
8. Play......

This should properly patch your game and you should have all content working. (as well as the 1.1 patch fixes that is, more patches are coming next week)

I assume that the Troll Trouble DLC disappearing from the Downloadable Content section is normal after deleting the registry entries seeing as how it is now part of the 1.1 patch?

That's actually not needed for the GOG version. I did just that, uninstall the game, delete all existing folders after I made a backup of my safe game files, delete the registry entries and after that, perform a fresh install of The Witcher 2.

I started the game through the launcher after the installation and it was definitely not patched. I had to apply the patch manually.

Yup, I know. I was solely referring to step four of your list. Since the auto-patcher isn't pulling the latest patch (v1.1) automatically, it is also not needed to disconnect the computer from the Internet.

Careful there. You must remember that because it is not SUCCESSFUL doesn't mean that it isn't (or wans't before the patch) trying....And if somone accidently made the server available, or if later some server used the same IP in later months, you could have unexpected results. this is one of the reason why I absolutely DETEST auto-downloaders/installers...you have little if any control and are a pain to monitor and control their activities. Hence my recommendation of disconnecting the Internet before patching. It was a similar auto-downloader such as this which lead me to permanant disconnect my XP box from the Internet a couple years ago. Better safe than sorry, especially with a "black box" type of application where the source code is unavailable. ;-)
