With this being my first post here I would like to say hello. Hello :)


I have just finished The Witcher 2 and really enjoyed it and would like to give the books a try. Is there a book that is recommended to start with?

I understand that the originals are written in Polish. Do they translate over well?

Basically what do you recommend?

I have not read them my self yet, but from what I've seen is the first book in English is a collection of all the original short story's. If you have the first Wither game from here the free short story is a part of the book. So if you liked that start there.

I have read the English translation of The Last Wish and was surprisingly impressed with its high quality. Since it was a translation, I wasn't expecting much. But, I ended up liking it better than the games. I found the writing and pacing in particular to be superior to that of the games.

You can always start from "The Last Wish" and "Blood of Elves". Up until recently, they are the only titles translated to english. There was one extra book speculated to have been translated during Christmas past, but sadly i do not remember its title. Google or rapid-search for them; or buy them. Either way they are not that rare to come up with...

Books are translate on many languages :)

While they have indeed been translated into many languages, English has been shortchanged. Only two books are available in English; a third and fourth have been scheduled for release this year, but they have been postponed so many times it's getting ridiculous, and one will never be commercially translated due to copyright issues.

Fans translated all the books. They contain grammatical errors, but that is not a major issue.
