Okay, first off, let me say this game has been rather amazing so far, so I'd love to enjoy more then just the prologue (With the exception of the nasty Dragon bits...).
Anyway, I'm running the retail version of Witcher 2, I'm doing this because internet connections in New Zealand are terrible due to limiting Data Caps, which makes downloading WItcher 2 impossible. Also with Witcher 2 no longer having a forum, I have no place that seems appropriate to ask for help with my problem. So this seems the more appropriate place, and maybe I'll get lucky.
As the title states, my game locks up after I escape the castle and get to the boat. It then loads after the cinematic and promptly freezes, forcing me to close it via Ctrl+Alt+Del. I've tried pretty much every fix thats been listed over the past few weeks.
I've tried the BCEDIT thing, or whatever the command line thing was.
I've tried updating all my drivers and my OS.
Ive tried running in compatibility mode, tried installing the latest CAPs, I've tried everything.
Nothing has fixed this. I've contacted support, and initially it was a fast reaction with a suggestion to do the BCEDIT thing. Which I told them I tried, and thus sent my Save Game to CD Projekt Red at their request. I haven't heard back from them, admittingly it's been only a day but as I paid retail price for this game, it's a bit irksome to have it sitting beside me unplayable, and with the patch issue I imagine support is on the back burner till the patch is released.
So does ANYONE have any thoughts on how I can fix this issue? Anyone at all?
