Yup. Just make sure you have shaved the beard first.

it works for me and it takes quite a while for the beard to grow back.

All of the hair styles seem to not affect it, however, only the base beard style seems to have the growth function.

Beards dont grow over night you know. It'll take a while. It looks awesome.
