So I was struggling learning to use mouse & keyboard so I switched to controller, but then I noticed moving the camera is a bit tricky, so now I'm torn. I have 5 mouse buttons so that could help a bit I guess, but I want to hear how you guys are faring with mouse & keyboard controls. If you changed anything or if you are fine with it.

At the moment I'm using the default settings. But I fuck up every combatencounter. I tried changing the bindings but i did not find one that I could live with. There are just too many possible combat actions. At the moment I'm thinking of buying a 5 key mouse because that would make it easier for me.

Yes I would be very interested in seeing some solutions from other people too.

Using a Razor naga (a little over kill) but it makes life easier

edit:
I just rebound a few functions to keys 10 11 and 12 besides the obvious ones I set up c and x
It was a little funky early in the game, but I'm getting the hang of combat and things are getting soother and far more fluid.

I can recommend Autohotkey for custom keys.

Here is a tutorial (COH2):

I have yet to find the time to play around with keys myself.

Bad idea on the 5key mouse. Binding keys to the mouse functions is not currently in CDPR's interest. I have a Trackball Explorer which I can; ( in ANY other game) bind to keys,combos,or even macros. With the current 'locked' key fubar system, it would be a waste of time and money on the extra buttons, programmable or not.
The only keys I changed so far are I moved swords from '1' and '2' to 'r' and 'f' and I moved potions from 'r' and 'f' to '1' and '2'. I kept accidentally drinking potions at random times. Nothing bad happens if I accidentally draw a sword at a random time though. I'm used to having potions somewhere on the number keys, because of other games. I might move dodge to a different key, I'm not sure yet.

I'm pretty sure everyone is going to regret my reply, most of all me :o), but since you asked:

Got rid of (i.e. set to 'None') ToggleSigns, CameraLock, PanelMeditation, TrackQuest.

Shifted PanelBestiary and GotoGlossary out of the way to free up the Keys.

Movement:

S --> B (Down)
A --> S (Left)
W --> G (Up)
D --> D (Right - That actually stays the same)

E --> T (Action/Use)

1 --> W (Steel Sword)
2 --> E (Silver Sword)
No sheath sword as both draw swords keys are a toggle to sheath.

Signs:
Are set to the Naga Pad - 1,2,4,5,7 with a Razer Software Macro that automatically adds a Q to cast it instantly.
It should be noted that the Razer software also changes some of those Keys to things like Home, End, PageUp and PagerDown. So, for example, the '6' button on the pad is actually 'PageDown' due to Razer and The Witcher is set to change to Quen when PageUp is pressed.

R --> 3 (Potion 1_
F --> 4 (Potion 2)
LShift --> F (Shifted function - like making a light attack become heavy)
Alt --> 8 (Dodge - I use the Naga '8' key)
RightMouse --> 9 (Witcher Sense - also on the Naga)
LControl --> MouseWheel (WalkToggle - Only on MouseWheelUp as MouseWheelDown can't be specified)
V --> A (Highlight Object)
X --> V (Call/Stop Horse)
MiddleMouse Button --> N (Quick Access/Crossbow)
Edit: This is glitchy, so reverted the Inventory back to the default 'I' Key
<not implemented> I --> Y (Inventory) </not implemented>

Also Edit: All working as far as I can tell.

Ohh yeah I did mouse button 4 to block and 5 to focus target too! What a coincidence I have crtl to switching signs as my scroll wheel is like literally a wheel and not a a scroll wheel that locks on a certain spot during movement.

The dodge on crtl seems kind of an annoying placement though. The dodging is kind of annoying no matter the way you look at it from a keyboard perspective. Well more like: not as easy or intuitive.

Well if you can adapt, that's cool. I just wanted a more witcher 2 control scheme so I changed a few things around.

Default key bindings with following changes:
Right mouse button - strong attack
Middle mouse button - Call horse
Mouse button 4 - Block/Witcher senses
Mouse button 5 - Focus on target

bringing this back from the grave a bit here, but this is exactly what i was looking for.

hearing you mention key bindings for unsheathing silver and steel swords, i wondered "do we actually need them"? doesn't the witcher always pull out the sword he needs for each combat?

in that case i could definitely use keys 1 and 2 for better purposes.
I'm playing with a laptop, so I use vanilla keybindings but I'm trying to change all middle mouse button bindings because of the trackpad.
