I own both the Witcher 3 and the GOTY edition, all of my play time is in the original but i was wondering if the save game could be transfered across so i can use the GOTY edition instead.

I'd be amazed if it doesn't work work. Since you have both, you can try it out?

I only have the GOTY edition so can't technically test on my end, but it would be pretty odd if this somehow doesn't work.

Saves will be compatible. The GOTY is the same game and has all of the DLCs, so there's no reason for it not to see your old saves right off the bat.
