Hello everyone.

I have a problem with Witcher 3 GOTY. First of all, I need to say I didn't have the problem before. I have almost 300 hours in game and this should've been my 4th playthrough.

How it happens:

Picture freezes (sometimes in-game, always in cut-scenes), but the actual game goes on. I can still hear dialogues or music, the game continues with picture completely frozen. If I alt-tab at that moment, game closes itself with no error (but there's error log file).

My videocard and processor are the same as I had last playthrough.

I have found hundreds of posts with the same problem on GoG, Steam, Reddit and so on (from year 2015 to 2019). And I haven't found a fix anywhere!

What I did:

1) all possible tweaks in Nvidia Control Panel
2) all possible settings within the game - including framerates and everything
3) wiping clean nvidia drivers and installing newest (I haven't tried installing the super-old ones)
4) running game as admin
5) deleting galaxy.dll and running game without GOG
6) running in windowed mode
7) running in compatibility mode
8) running with fullscreen optimization disabled
9) full reinstall / integrity check
10) no overlock

So. Yeah. I'm kind of extremely sad now.

Can anyone, please, help me?

I run all the games fine. I can name like 20 games I ran in the last year.

Windows 10 latest version, nvidia drivers latest available on the website, I7 6700K, GTX 1080 Ti, SSD 970 Evo Plus, DDR4 16 GB ram 3200.

I feel hundreds or thousands of people had or have this problem. How about CD Project RED gives a patch with a fix to its most popular game?

Absolutely. Same. Problem.

After trying absolutely everything, I "fixed" freezes by reverting to 378.78 Nvidia Drivers, which are almost 3 years old.

I've been getting the exact same issue, and we have simillar specs.

only work around I've done is to underclock GPU;

CORE CLOCK - 50 MHz

MEMORY CLOCK - 150 MHz

also had to change some graphic settings, hair works turned off, set shadow detail to medium and seems to do the trick just now. not ideal but better than running old nvidia driver.

been managing to play now without any crashes

399.24 driver works too. And it's not THAT old. So i'm sticking with 399.24 :)

What do to when one have RTX 2072 super ?! =( I get CTD all the time.

Ive noticed the same problem, now im running a Gigabyte 5700 xt so the driver thing doesnt seem like the case. now, i have noticed only 2 spots in teh game where this happens, and its only when i go to these spots. one spot is for a question mark location and the other is for a treasure underwater near fykes island (spelling might be wrong). both locations same thing, game freezes, goes to desktop but sounds all work and if i use my controls it seems to work but of course , i cant see anything. quite annoying little bug.
