1. How do I transfer a character from Ultima IV? If I select that option everything locks up.

2. If I camp in the Underworld with a guard and my first player is dead, sometimes he will automatically come back to life with 0 hit points. I haven't figured out exactly what else is needed for this but it's happened twice. (0 hit points is dead, and he's always gotten healed from this camping.)

3. In Quas Xen reagents are somehow wrong. Nightshade is not needed. I don't know if this is a bug in the documentation or this game. (I don't recall this in the other versions.)

4. Is there any way to get the music?

5. Minor bug: if player 2 is dead when you are captured in Blackthorn's castle, the wrong player is named for who gets put on the rack.
1. for transferring use this - http://www.ultimaaiera.com/ultima5/ultima-5-character-transfer-patch/
4. for music - http://exodus.voyd.net/ultima5.html
The PC version of Ultima 5 didn't have music; it was included on some other systems. Likewise 3 and 4. (As far as I know, 1 and 2 never had music.) The midi compilations from those games were extracted from the non-PC versions of the games.

Ultima 6 was the first PC Ultima game to have music. There are various compilations of extracted midi files for 6-8 and the side-series games (UW1, UW2, SE, MD). Ultima 9 went with orchestral music, which had become commonplace by that time. I'm not sure whether anyone extracted the music from in-game, but there was a separate soundtrack CD containing the major pieces.

Uh oh, that first ;link says "file not found" when I try to download.

Fortunately the second link seems to get me pretty close. I had to hunt all over the place for a csdpmi link. Finally found one here: http://www.arcadeathome.com/dl.phtml?mameutils/dpmi.zip%7C But it asked me to put my Ultima IV disk into a drive and press the drive letter, which was further than I got before.

So in DOSBOX I mounted D: as "c:\gog games\ultima second trilogy\ultima 4" and tried loading from "D", but it said that my

Okay, while gog.com is up for me, here is how I did it:

1. Apply the exodus patch
2. in dosbox, mount ultima 5 as c: and ultima 4 as d:
3. apply the patch triock just mentioned to ultima4
4. start ultima 5, select transfer, and select drive D

yay!
