that cover!

made me want to rewatch the Genesis version. Those puppets! I feel feel like a poignant statement on Americanism was uttered that still resonates thirty years later :\

ChaunceyK: I was never a big fan of this genre, however...

ChaunceyK: ...I thought THIS was awesome back in the day, and even now. Great song, great video. And I also loved Information Society's debut album so much, I bought the cd way back when & still listen to it to this day.

Information Society - What's on Your Mind

Information Society - Walking Away
I have Information Society on vinyl, it's a great album.
It's great that so much of this "indie" music is available digitally/DRM-free on Bandcamp, I always feel guilty pirating stuff but when the only alternative is itunes or physical copies it's rather annoying

Thanks for that, great site!

I'll just leave that here: SaiR - Wonderer
Thanks for introducing me to monomen. love their sound. :)

Look what i found in a game:

Rochard Trailer Theme: Space Debris

And is made by the Poets of the Fall, how awesome is that? (big fan of them also)

Edit: Is it possible to change the title? I really should have put 80's/Retro style, uhm...

Don't take this seriously, but it's still a must see electro-synth, if only for how perfectly awful it is:

Zlad! - Elektronik Supersonik

it was only inevitable.

off blast!

classic :)
Does early 80s Gary Numan qualify for this thread or was that too close to new wave? Perhaps Nina Hagen when she went through her new wave funk punk pop phase in the mid 80s? How about Sigue Sigue Sputnik, or are they too new wave too?

ALL Gary Numan counts!

Also, it's been decided that we not be sticklers on this thread. Sharing is caring ♥

80's alternative music is pretty much my go to genre... here are some songs no one else suggested. Some of these are less obvious "synth pop" than others but they are all in that electronic/dance/synth genre more or less.

Electronic - Getting Away With It
Peter Schilling - The Different Story
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
B Movie - Nowhere Girl
Tones on Tail - Go!
Until December - Until December
New Order - Fine Time
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax
Cetu Javu - Have in Mind
Freur - Doot Doot
Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)
Orchestral Manoevres in the Dark - Enola Gay
Peter Murphy - Indigo Eyes
Visage - Fade to Grey
Soft Cell - Sex Dwarf
Bronski Beat - Small Town Boy
Figures on a Beach - Accidentally 4th Street (Gloria)
Talk Talk - Talk Talk
Re-Flex - The Politics of Dancing

That should be enough for now!

Dance with the Dead shared this and hey, its free to download.

For 1$ (or more) you can have that album, it has really good musics on it.
If you like synth music then this could be interesting for you:
