sanscript: Problem is, Darwin's Law of evolution by natural selection does not apply to humans, at all.
avatar
DadJoke007: Of course it's applicable. The theory of Darwin is about adaptation to the prevailing climate. The prevailing climate might as well change at a later point if the current society is punished by nature, but we still fit Darwin's theory of evolution very much.

Survival of the fittest is often misinterpreted, it's all about adaptation.
I'm talking about individuals. Even in prison you get a better life than on the outside, even paid education, clothes and entertainment.

Yes I agree it is about adaptation, but it gets in many cases it back fires due to our society/laws. I'd argue that even a strong person with god enough richness in his life can/and will be punished, but not naturally.

However, on the bigger scale, sure, the human race might get wiped out because of our own stupidity, but we don't see that (at least not now).

firstpastthepost: Aren’t a lot of these things mostly one offs that are spun into “trends” among children by parents on social media whipping each other into a frenzy? Every time I see something like this I have to question how common it actually is. It reminds me of the rainbow parties parents freaked out about or kids licking frogs. They’re basically contemporary urban legends that circulate among parents who aren’t capable of talking to or monitoring their kids.

A couple of dumb kids doing something isn’t a trend.

DadJoke007: Urban legends? Were you never invited to those heavy metal rainbow parties where we licked frogs, played D&D and worshiped demons? Man, you missed out.
TBH if more kids were just listening to heavy metal and playing D&D all night and day i'd be happier then having them do stupid things for attention online.

sanscript: 5. The whole wheel spins but nothing changes and the world will get overpopulated, while in the real animal world, everything tends to be balanced (like having a natural enemy/predator or lack of resources).
With some resources getting low and no tech to replenish them(barring recycling and new tech/etc) we will be at that low resources point soon enough.

What about the seldom reported problems with the ebola "outbreaks" in africa? People are messing with treatment and quarantine clinics, for one.

DadJoke007: How I love the German language and the ability to put thousands of long words together so that they form one enormous super word. It's very painting.
I remember a friend of mine joking that the movie title Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is all one word in German. At least I assume he was joking.

Well, seriously, I find stupid people tend to breed without any regard to its consequences. I know one guy who has 6 daughters from two marriages, and I figure he's not going to stop. Darwinism only concerns itself with reproductive success.

If you're thinking about energy then we have the tech, but don't use it. Another example of stupid politicians that really should be sacked and put to REAL WORK, and sooner rather than later :P

I'd say it will destabilize and most likely put the human race several hundreds of years back. But, will we still make the same mistakes?

I'm not against vaccines, only what they put in them (most metals are poisonous to living things)... but I have to wonder if we sometimes just push forward the future where another black plague or something comes along and wipes 1/3 of this planet.

Or aliens according to some, that might be fun if someone brings along popcorn :P

Exactly. Just 100-300 years ago these men/women would not (in many cases) have the money, resources or the capacity to feed those (or more) children. In most cases that would be not practical, in many cases they would starve. Well, unless you had the resources yourself. If you didn't work hard or smart, or wasn't more creative, you wouldn’t have those money or resources to feed all those children. Same with ancient humans - if you as a man didn't adapt you most likely would end up being eaten, or starved to death (and then the children/family would suffer/starve).

Darwins law, "survival of the fittest" or what ever you want to call it, is mostly about the genes, yes, however wellfare and technology makes us the exception rather apart of the rule/law.

Other animals adaptability to get better, faster, smarter, creative etc in any climate are those individuals that are more likely survive long enough to bring forth those genes, and making the species as a whole better fitted for the future in the long run.

My science/physics teacher pointed this out to me and I agree; human society and laws are "unatural" and a social construct (in the eyes of Darwins, 2 law, was it?) - we humans for better or worse are not necessary bringing the best genes that might get us to survive the future, be it new climate, space-age(?), or another change.

So yes, put a modern man in the wild desert in Africa 10.000 years ago, and he will be unfitt to survive. Most likely he would be thinking of screaming like a drama-queen on social networks, instead of preparing him for the wild beast that's been sniffing him 10km away and is getting closer **cue in the shark theme** :D

I actually meant MINED resources and others that are harvested & non-renewable(like helium iirc).

Without Doom3 tech(that elemental phase deconstructor) we aren't gonna make some resources increase in quantity short of going into space and mining for them.

Not to go too much more offtopic, but the amount of metals in them and other compounds is well below harmful levels or in forms that don't harm humans.....yet another bit of info the scaremongers(not you but others) get wrong.

Still, if they cause a mass ebola outbreak it'll put a damper in everyone's day, that's for sure(as we have no ebola vaccine...just slightly effective treatments to reduce fatality rates).
