No offense, but if you don't want to perform basic maintenance on your pc, maybe you should have gotten Abzu on Switch or PS4?

I mean no disrespect, but updating your OS is something that's been required pretty much since Win 95.

I'm thinking about it. Just found out that switch might get hardware update add-on, but people say also that it might be a whole new model. I would preffer an addon inside the dock myself; since it has plenty of empty space inside.

Again: It's an off-line gaming PC with Vanilla7. I found it runs games the best so I'm good. Recently I found out that I can't play newer gog games so I have no choice and be happy with 56 games I own.

I understand. On my old Win 2000 machine, I had it running with the base windows with no updates, but I still had to run redists to get my games to run. However, I concede your point that redists used to be standalone, and I also worry about web installers taking over.

People are so keen on cloud computing, it's sad. I predict hard drive space to shrink back down as more and more stuff is kept on the cloud, until a great cloudpocalypse, when everyone realizes having a backup on your *own* hard drive is very valuable.

Safe travels to you!

I'm also running Win7 sp1 offline for the same reason. Since post winxp SP1 the operating system works against the user as if Microsoft knows better about how I want to run it. I consider it as malware to be contained. I have the same opinion about cell phones, (mandatory at my work :( , turn it off at home and don't do anything personal on it).

Your thread made me check those again because I've been able to install it before. No problem installing two versions of vc++ 2015 update 3 downloaded on MS website, see picture. Dolphin 5.0 emulator that requires it runs ok. Those redists install very slowly though, 20 minutes each and seems to be jammed for a few minutes at first.

When I searched for your error, I found the following comments on a youtube video:
""
From the Control Panel>Windows Update, I hit "Change Settings" and clicked
"Never check for updates."
""
(This is always the case with me since I run offline, I do the same with defender but leave the firewall on. Perhaps this is why it installs on my setup?)

Also these could help:

-Hello :) I'm gonna tell you how I fixed this on Windows 7 Home Premium.
First uninstall all of your Visual C++ by going to control panel > programs
and then just uninstall everything that got "Visual C++" in it's name.
Restart PC. Click start. Type in "CMD". Right click "CMD" and run it as admin.
type in (WITHOUT quotation marks) "net stop wuauserv". You can close cmd now.
Install vc_redist.x64 and vc_redist.x86 (It should not be stuck on installation,
since we blocked WindowsUpdate service by cmd).

-finally figured out how to get this to work on win 8.1 so frustrating.
first thing you're going to want to do is uninstall visual c++ 2015 completely
restart your computer. and then go to control panel go to all control panel
items go to Windows update in the control panel go to change settings and then
enable never check for updates. restart your computer and then go to this website

NovumZ: Abzu offline installer had mendatory vc redist 2015 even! (Please undo this Change Kindly GOG.)
That caught my eye! -it used to come in a separate install window; that way you could stop another multiple redist 2015 from installing 20 times on top of another and would be hard to see other installed programs I monitor.
You mean it force install the redistributable and no checkbox is available? hah, Dolphin 5.0 had a checkbox for this...
Hope I won't have problems If I ever decide to buy it.

Thank you for trying to help Lostinablock!

I use windows 7pro (came on a CD) without ever going once on the internet. I usually installed redists that came with offline gog installers -except I canceled another vc redist 2015 install when I had four of them installed already. Now with abzû gog gave me no choice and installed another redists 2015 inside installer itself (badgog). Anyway Abzû I was very excited about but I guess Vanilla7 is not supported.
