asimovfreerobot: Well, you got me wrong. It is probably my fault but what I was trying to mean is, they released nearly the same game with 60$. Without any big development, it is so wrong to sell a sequel with 60$ price tag. That is of course their decision, but it just feels wrong. I really enjoyed xcom enemy unknown but I have never thought of buying xcom 2 after watching the gameplay. Also some people claim that xcom enemy unknown was way more fun compared to xcom 2, and they say it got bad in challange/fun balance.

markrichardb: You could claim the same of any sequel. XCOM 2 has new assets, new mechanics, new skins, procedurally generated destructible maps, and a dynamic geoscape that gives aliens autonomy and players the ability to instigate events rather than merely react. It’s not like it’s a roster update.
Those sport games are the worst about that case. They literally just update the roster and enhance a little bit here and there, then they just release it with a high price tag.
Also I know this is normal, but that is the main problem and that is what I was trying to explain. It is wrong and it is normal because people accepted the situation. That's why the game industry sucks in general. No wonder why people love CD Project Red! :D

HunchBluntley: *new possessive pronoun to cover a mix of "his", "her", "its", and some other off-brand genders/non-genders that our laughably insufficient languages don't have words for
avatar
JMich: The pronoun you are looking for is "Their". At least in English, not sure if that's also true for American.
Please! "Their" does not begin to cover the glorious, abstruse complexity of the mid-/mixed-gender genderlessness of our Great Imperator, the Grandiose Gleblarkkfoctsnipnef-Krplumpf, may Hljers names be praised! Huzzah!
I've killed an awful lot of aliens in the past ~30 years of gaming, so I hope the new overlords aren't somehow related to any of them.

"We are here not to harm, but will make just this one decree: no more new video games. Oh, and where is that asshole HereForTheBeer? Sum'bitch got some payback coming!"

So long as their demand means that gOg can continue to bring back old titles from the wastebin of gaming history, then I'm okay with it.

And what if they forbid any rereleases? Will you be killing even more of them? ;)

Are they at least allowed to improve the graphics, sound and make it multilingual and platform independent? That might be a game changer. (No pun intended)
Meh. I'd be more devastated if he said no one can make new music anymore.
Every thing is a product of its time. If there were no more new things, we would have stopped thinking, and therefore existing.

Or keep re-creating several different versions of someone else's unique thoughts re-hashed. I don't think I can take another Batman or Superman movie anymore.

It's getting easier to spot "true" creativity from those who can put lipstick on a pig.

Honestly, I’d rather see another Batman movie than someone put lipstick on a pig.

Something that is recreating something that already exists, will still be a different thing, no matter how similar. What is the difference between a Batman movie and a James Bond movie? What is the difference between the written version of Hamlet and its latest theatre adaption? There are tons of differences. There are no differences at all.

I need to go to bed. I always spout nonsense when I’m tired.

Edit: Oh, one more: All human thoughts are finite. But just like chess, noone has seen all the endings yet, but a lot of repetition.

How about a new character, a new villain, a new thought spawned from current invention and creation, maybe even a new theory?

On a different note, I'm not really into the "Comic" genre of movies coming out as of late, but I am really looking forward to "Dr. Strange" (one of the comics I did read as a young one).
I will not agree to an alien overlord crushing my dreams. I want to create video games. I'll never do it, but I want to.

As for gaming, I vaguely remember such a thing. I'd still appreciate it if the alien overlord allows porting old games to new platforms.

Matewis: Btw, what is a Prometheus gun? Something from the film?

Works against Shivans and Vasudans, so I am sure they work against some anti-gaming alien overlord as well.
There are enough games. So fi we submit to that alien overlord's demands, we'll still have all the highs and lows of gaming, between classics that can't die, and the terrible crap being put on Steam.

Lol, no wonder it's a Freespace reference ;)

By the way, its appearance reminds me of the mass driver cannon from WC4:
