Hot spot indicator? What sorcery is this?!

Simon the Sorcerer & Simon the Sorcerer 2: 25th Anniversary Edition are coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
He can be arrogant. He can be obnoxious. He can drive your favorite fairytale characters nuts. If that wasn't enough, he's now also enhanced for his 25th Anniversary! Sporting a modernized control scheme, upscaled visuals, new animations and the option to mix and match all the cool new features with those of the original versions, Simon is back and ready to point & click his way into infamy once more.

The Anniversary editions will be released on April 3rd. The original versions will be removed from sale and added to these as a bonus goodie.
Each Anniversary Edition will cost 8.99 USD.
Owners of the original games will get a 50% discount on them.
Getting both Anniversary editions will grant you a 10% bundle discount.

StingingVelvet: The early 3D days really, really were a dark time.

pferreira1983: Eh? Worms 3D is terrific and loads of people love that game. Those other games you mentioned not so much.
Really? I've never seen much enthusiasm for it, and I myself think it's an utter, borderline unplayable piece of crap. I thought the sigh of relief when they went back to 2D was unanimous.

It got great reviews and did well enough for Team 17 to churn out inferior sequels to it. Controls are pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
good games. reminds me of discworld. these and those were similar but I really liked the discworld games.

Great games but owning the originals I dont see a point yet. The trailer and screenshots with the new graphics filter looks awful and there is already a graphics filter in DosBox that can achieve that.

Pulling the original games from the catalogue is a big mistake.

Simon 1&2 are the only two games I have ever bought for full sales price on GOG. I can't understand why anyone would want "anniversary editions" of these games, if they aren't even proper remakes (and even if they were, they would be inferior to the original titles).

I have successfully convinced some other people to buy the original Simons, I for sure won't recommend anyone to buy remakes, quite the opposite.

Also this sends a very bad signal about GOG. Back in the day, GOG used to be the go-to place for older titles, which were no longer sold anywhere. Now, it seems that GOG has no objections to removing real classics from the catalogue and replacing them with garbage.

It should be the other way round. These enhanced, kind of hacked versions should be bonus goodies, and the original titles the real thing.

In my eyes that "Anniversary Edition" is a fake. It seems also based on the old data files and ScummVM with activated pixel filter and activated MIDI-emulation (usually MojoTouch sells ScummVM based games for Android an iOS, otherwise they have nothing to show!). The only things that have been changed in the source code of this ScummVM fork are new control options, hot spot markers and some new title and load/save screens....

In my eyes only moneymaking with minimal effort.

Dogmaus: There was a fan made demo of Simon 3 in 2D, but it's not downloadable anymore.

thank you...to anyone who wants to open the link, be careful, it might be dangerous. Before downloading the real rar file, it also downloaded a small iso file with a similiar name. The demo is working but also very short (it ends ending the conversation with the fairy). It is "of course" in German.
I find it kinda funny that they had to re-upload the first trailer without the badly edited VO from the 20th anniversary edition..

Except for the fact the first one was absolutely, utterly insane :D I liked the graphics and the voice acting, but the puzzles were the most convoluted, impossible exercises in mindfuckery I've ever seen in a game.

HeartsAndRainbows: Had to manually doctor some links, because "Why should our forum work without workarounds?" The GOG forums are the pits! Dear GOG: Just switch to Discourse, please.
Oh gosh yes! I'm a longtime member of QuarterToThree.com, and we just switched to Discourse last year, and things are SO much better now. People seriously don't know how great it is until they've tried it. Heck, I didn't even want to switch, but now that's it's done, I have serious trouble posting anywhere that doesn't use Discourse. Just quoting you right now for example, I instinctively just highlighted the relevant part, and expected the quote to happen automatically (really, people, it's that easy). Discourse is truly the best forum software I've ever had the pleasure of using. Tons of cool features, and effortless to learn and use.

As it has been said before hotspot markers are already available in the actual GOG release.

Don't forget the incredible amount of red herrings in the game.

First time around I didn't do too badly. I got about half way maybe three quarters through the game before I got stuck.
