Hot spot indicator? What sorcery is this?!

Simon the Sorcerer & Simon the Sorcerer 2: 25th Anniversary Edition are coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
He can be arrogant. He can be obnoxious. He can drive your favorite fairytale characters nuts. If that wasn't enough, he's now also enhanced for his 25th Anniversary! Sporting a modernized control scheme, upscaled visuals, new animations and the option to mix and match all the cool new features with those of the original versions, Simon is back and ready to point & click his way into infamy once more.

The Anniversary editions will be released on April 3rd. The original versions will be removed from sale and added to these as a bonus goodie.
Each Anniversary Edition will cost 8.99 USD.
Owners of the original games will get a 50% discount on them.
Getting both Anniversary editions will grant you a 10% bundle discount.

gamesfreak64: They cant ask more then 14.99..... if they do they become the laughing stock .

Pond86: I's say even 14.99 is still too much. As all it looks like they have done is slapped a filter on it, and it looks to be the same versions that were released on the Apple/Google Stores a while back.

I'd much rather we got Simon 4 back and had 5 & 6 added here tbh.
4,5 and 6 use a 3d engine, i saw the videos they look good but too much screne moving motions for me, thats why i stick to 2d: left right and when the move the screen does not scroll along they simply go to another scene and when they walk through a door or gate the objects gets smaller but the screen stays steady, those games are perfect for me: too much motion is not .

tomimt: For anyone wondering, the "stunning HD mode" is just a terribly implemented scaler that makes the games look like molten wax.
Oh God, I didn't check the screenshots.. this "remake" looks horrible and cheap.

Yeah they arn't as good as 1 & 2. But I want them to complete the collection. (Plus only 4 you can legally get the others have been removed from sale, and were digital only, and had DRM.)

But as non 2D and as crappy was they were they are still better than just slapping a filter on a older game and then re-selling it.

Sold! You should work in advertisement ;)

vulchor: Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, and Monkey Island remasters are all actual remasters
The Monkey Island ones looked terrible tho, compared to the originals.

Leroux: Meh, this looks more like blurred DOSBOX filters than improved visuals, and not really consistent with the menu graphics. Who can blame them for trying though, if others can get away with that, too ...
Totally agree. I think GoG shouldn't accept it in first place.

That's subjective, though. You can't argue with the workmanship of it, even if you didn't like the outcome.

gamesfreak64: They can't ask too much, cause no one will buy it, maybe it will be something between 14.99 and max. 19.99 ( which would be way too much)

Day of the Tentacle Remastered: 14.99
Full Throttle Remastered: 14.99

They cant ask more then 14.99..... if they do they become the laughing stock .

vulchor: You must remember that Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, and Monkey Island remasters are all actual remasters, with brand new hand drawn graphics! They are amazingly and lovingly crafted, especially the Full Throttle remaster, and they're all well worth their price tags.

This is just a money grab with the most minimal amount of work possible done to it. This is the cancer in the industry. A HUGE thumbs down to GOG for going along with it.
I own dott and full throttle remasters , the only little problem is the engine is too heavy on my cpu, so i have set the settings in the game to lowest and now the game is still 'hot' but won't burn my cpu.

I have Black mirror 1.2 and 3 and Chronicles of zerzura ( devs from BM2 and BM3) but somehow the Chronicles of zerzura is not at GOG, ( steam has it and once installed the game does not need steam(unless they changed it lately).

Many devs/publisher at GOG do not have all or most of their games available here which is sad, cause more choice is always good, but maybe gog does not like some titles which might explain why publishers do not have all their games here.

I didn't argue with the workmanship of it..
And speaking about the subjectivity, MI3 style would have been way better at that point.

_ChaosFox_: Given that they're adding nothing of value to this release, 14.99 would be 10 too much.
I didnt want to be 'rude' :D ..... thats why i gave nice answer,
but if i had to tell the way i really feel about certain games / remakes of games... :D

Anyway even in a 'democracy' you are supposed to be correct 99% of the times so giving the answer you would really want to give will never be appreciated, so you have to take that in consideration with every post you make or reply you give when talking about badgames/devs/publishers.

I'm not disagreeing with you either. Just wanted to point out that there's a difference, and a reason to charge $15 for it, because there actually was work done. In the case of Simon, that hasn't been done at all.

With the LucasArts remasters, you could debate til the cows come home which style is better, but there was a ton of work done. I like the new art in the Monkey Island games, but with DoTT I don't like it, and with Full Throttle I love the work done in most of the areas, but in all of them I never felt I was ripped off.

Fixed that for you. I'm really curious about the pricing, because i fear we'll have an early April's fools day.

I have a 7700k and GTX 980 Ti and there are scenes in Full Throttle (like the intro) that slow down and are laggy. That was my biggest (and really only) gripe about the remaster. I did play at 2560x1440p, and now I have a 4K monitor, so the high resolution may have something to do with it, but even more so is bad optimization. But it's kind of understandable considering they had to replicate the way the old engine worked, which redraws the whole scene every frame.

Vythonaut: Hmmm, I have a feeling that this version was made in order to release the games on the mobile market...

*does a quick search*
*finds the same game but labeled as 20th Anniversary Edition on Play store*

I wonder what the pricing of the PC anniversary version will be...
found on youtube: its quite funny:

Breja: I love point & clicks and I never played Simon the Sorcerer, so this looks like a perfect opportunity to finally do so. Looking forward to it (though when I actually pick it up will greatly depend on the price).
