ElPrimordial: Wow, it happened the same to me with one of my computers, around the same time. I wish I could help you but finally I had to send it to a technician... I wonder if he would be able to fix it...
Luckily, I had a motherboard that fit the cpu, so that's what solved it. The pc works fine now.

Thank you. Did your technician figure out what was wrong or are you waiting for an answer?

Have to wait 'till Monday or Tuesday.

RWarehall: Or despite your best intentions, the evil of static electricity fried one of the components during the switch. Sounds as if either something fried or something is shorting somewhere as paladin181 suggested.
Hmmm static electricity...

I never wear an anti-static gear, i ground myself before touching anything though (I find the computer case makes for a good item i can touch since it's on hand when working on hardware).

But yeah... static electricity... 50,000 to 200,000 volts in a fraction of a second on hardware designed for 5v-50v...

Ah. Well, all the best. I would also help you but it would involve checking all the things I listed.

Again, thank you for all the help to everyone who responded. Really appreciate it.
