could be admin rights. start the game by right-click --> run as admin?

Have you installed it to windows folders e.g. Program files? Why does anyone still do this. Always install any app to a folder outside of windows control, e.g. C:/mygames. Uac has been around and causing problems since vista!!
I thought GOG defaulted to install all games OUTSIDE the program folders. What gives? That setting is there for very good reasons.
Push F1, it'll pop up with Scummvm options.

It does: C:\GOG Games. Unless a person is using an installer from years ago (which obviously couldn't be the case for this game), she would have to specifically change the install path from the default to put it in one of the Program Files folders. And while I'm sure there are people who would do that, I doubt it's all that common.

Pressing F1 brings up the option screen of ScummVM. Here you can chose save/load which you obviously already managed to do. In the save menu click on the new save slot to dave the file (see attachements).

(CTRL+5 tries to load the savefile on slot 5 but since there is nothing saved yet it's logical why you get a load/save error here)

Ive done this several times. The first save slot is number 85, i click on it then give it a name but it wil not take. I can scroll to 1st save slot but same issue. When the game installed i let it install where it wants to go as i found this is better than picking where i want it installed.

It's best to install ScummVM separately, and then point it to game files when installing a new game.
That way you can contol paths and other things globally for all games rather than going game by game basis.

That's completely wrong. Just click on the text "new save". Hard to imagine that it tries to save in the 85th save slot. Could you make some screenshots?

Still it is completely unnecessary - especially since GOG is using the newest ScummVM version in this case. Curse has its savegames path set in the game directory under "saves" and the game itself will be installed to the default GOG directory. Some people might prefer to do this manually but if you are unsure you might as well look under options or even in the game ini in the game directory. I myself prefer to actually use the simplicity of an automated installer - of course that's subjective.

Ok I just installed the game on my desktop that runs win 7 and game saves. The game that does not save is on my laptop and that runs win 10. So safe to say its a windows 10 issue. For some odd reason the save screens on my windows 10 computer has a newer look but the win 7 has an older look. I will post screenshots a little later of both screens.

Are you installing the game to the default directory? And are you using it from the installed files or did you copy them somwhere else or tell ScummVM to pick them up (not using the version with the game.)

As i've just installed the game to the default directory on mine and i'm running Windows 10, and can save and load fine. (Press F1 or F5 then go to Save game.) (Then F1 or F5 then load game.)

Whats the exact error you get word from word? It it shouldn't be admin as unless they changed it GOG Games install default to C:\GOG Games\Game Name so its not a protected system file, and Curse doesn't need admin.

If the save screens look different you might of clicked on the L or G in the corner of the box that changes the menu layout.

I let the games install where they want to so it would be default directory. I did not select anything on the menu layout. Below are the 2 screenshots. Pressing the L or G on the win 7 machine does not give me the same save look as win 10. I tried uninstalling and re-installing with no luck. I need to play that game on my laptop.
