kellyxxx: I let the games install where they want to so it would be default directory. I did not select anything on the menu layout. Below are the 2 screenshots. Pressing the L or G on the win 7 machine does not give me the same save look as win 10.
The Win10 screenshot is the ORIGINAL save function and not the ScummVM save functrion. This will not work and schould not even be acessible (I wonder how you managed to access it at all). Second one is the ScummVM save dialogue though. Did you also press F1 on your win10 machine to access the dialogue shown?

Ok so the Windows 7 one is what I have which is the default ScummVM one. The Windows 10 one is the classic Curse of Monkey Island layout (which is how it looked like on the CD version.)

I got the classic ScummVM menu on mine (your Windows 7 one.) Did you change any settings on the Windows 10 one, as I have a feeling you should be getting the ScummVM menu and not the classic menu. Have you tried re-installing the game on the Windows 10 one?

I changed nothing on the win 10, uninstalled and re-installed to no luck. All installs are left up to the program getting installed, I change nothing thru the install. I was kinda surprised when i installed this game on my win 7 machine a couple hrs ago and found such a change on the save screen. I put it on my win 7 computer to see if it worked here. The games I download here I like to play in bed while watching TV later in the evening. I don't play these games on my desktop.

Yes F1 is the only way to get to save screen on win 10 machine. I uninstalled the game and downloaded it again a couple days ago so what I downloaded is whats on the computer. No idea why its a different save screen.

So you press F1 and the game shows you the screen you posted the screenshot from at that moment, correct? I mean - there is not another menu shown prior to the screenshot? Really strange thing.
Ok all I want to thank everybody for your help, I found the problem. On my laptop the function keys have dual uses, I was pressing shift F1 to access the save feature. I now noticed my laptop has a FN key, pressing that and F1 brings up the win 7 save screen that works. I spend lttle time on my laptop and never noticed the FN key. All other games I play on laptop, do not require use of function keys. Thanks again all, the community here is super helpful.

What a mystery .. and such a simple solution :) Thank you for letting us know what the problem caused. Maybe it can help other users who are using a laptop in future problems as well. Happy gaming.

There was just someone else who posted about this topic recently, so I'll link you to what I told them. : )

I have one laptop that had the issue that the function keys defaulted to "media keys" (launch backup app, turn wifi on/off, play next in media player, ... etc.) instead of normal F-keys (F1-F12). I had to press the Fn key to get normal F-keys.

However, the fix for me was to boot into BIOS during the start-up of the computer and there was a setting to change the default behavior to normal F-keys and since then I've not had issues.
nevermind
