Diablo is complete, fun and engaging as it is. Hellfire is an optional content that a lot of long-time players like me never experienced to begin with.

Kelefane: By the way, the Hell mod from Modb has everything that Hellfire has and more.

Nice! Does it include what Beezelbub has? Beezelbub has a special place in my heart. Putting all content into the game, and even adding some quality stuff that seemed like cut content.

Yeah, but those who played Diablo 2, cannot go back to Diablo 1 without its expansion! Running, even only in town... Crypts, Nests... The Barbarian... Runes/Traps...

Hell, even Blizzard itself admitted once, that they borrowed elements from Hellfire, to incorporate inside 2!!! And no mistake...

Hellfire was severely limited. Mods like The Hell 1 & 2 adds way more content.

Partially true. But they do way more things than add, like "rebalance" etc. Problem remains, still. Some people want the original experience. I have it retail, but i worry about others; unlike certain people here, i genuinely care for everybody to be serviced, not only the lucky few who stashed goods away, back in the day!

ChrisGriffin: It's great that this game has finally found it's way here, but to me GOG still has a LONG way to go in old and indie game departments.

Complete games only. I'm not buying it without the Hellfire Expansion.
I never played the game or any diablo game might get that one tho.
is hellfire a dlc or something?
I know where to find D+HF...

Hellfire is what was once called an "expansion pack". Prior to DLC, games received "expansion packs", which were relatively large expanded content with new levels, characters, et cetera.

Hellfire itself seems unpopular and I feel that is unfortunate. I really enjoyed it and am planning to use the guide posted by a user here to make it work.

Here's hoping it arrives on GOG too though so I can "double-dip" and get it here. Also related, here's hoping the Tomb Raider series expansion packs arrive someday.

I heard it was highly unbalanced, creatures far too weak, etc...
Can you play Diablo 1 with a controller or does it only use a mouse?

Sure you can

If it's the PS1 version....

An expansion created by another company (Sierra). Thus completely unsupported by Blizzard and featured non-canon storyline additions.

It's overrated. A lot of gameplay changes were geared toward impatient players who can't stand looking for dropped loot or travelling / backtracking places. The only thing I really liked about it was "jogging in town" (speed up walking in town).

Stick to vanilla. It's very playable and a lot of fun.
Also... i remember this being a nice little talk on Diablo... Very interesting, like how they did their palette system which you can tell was implemented into Starcraft (and.. Diablo 2?)
