It's great that this game has finally found it's way here, but to me GOG still has a LONG way to go in old and indie game departments.

Complete games only. I'm not buying it without the Hellfire Expansion.

I just knew someone would come up with a reason to bitch about this.

What a stroker. :P

Honestly I never played the Hellfire add on back in the day but that's because I only ever played the PS1 version. Vanilla D1 is still a very deep and fun game with tons of hours of gameplay die to its randomly generated dungeons and loot. It's almost like a new game each play through.

If you own the original CDs or get a copy of Hellfire another way. Then it runs fine with GOG's version, i've posted a guide here.
Hellfire is nice but it's not crucial like LOD is.

The irony
Oh no, a non-canon expansion owned by someone else! What will you ever do?
What exactly did Hellfire have exactly?

There was the Monk, who I did like, though I remember his specialty was being unarmed which kind of killed the thrill of finding loot. :P
What was the other class? And what sorts of weapons were added?

LOD was so much more because it totally changed the game. The added specialty items like the heads for the Necromancer and the special helms for the Barbarian could completely change how you built your character and played the game.

I don't remember anything like that in Hellfire.

Monk was the only class added in Hellfire. Here is the wiki which shows most of the additions

People have said there are extra legal problems with Hellfire because it was a Sierra game, not Blizzard. And I guess the rights didn't transfer to Activision when Act bought Sierra, or whatever exactly happened there? (No time for "deep research")
I do know that Hellfire was critically received when it came out. If it were a new expansion today for example for a new game it would have negative votes and comments about it here on GOG and Steam etc. It wasn't even a necessary addition and more disliked it then liked it. Nostalgia can really put the blinders on pretty tight and give certain folks selective memory.
By the way, the Hell mod from Modb has everything that Hellfire has and more.
