paladin181: It's a solid game. Absolutely. But I just didn't enjoy it that much. The leveling system, the dialog system... the world and base building... it just didn't feel good to me after playing New Vegas. It's a solid game. Poop is also solid. Solid isn't a compliment. But it's not a terrible game. It's just not very good.
amok: because this is off course not subjective.... According to my Steam stats, I have spent overr 200 hours with Fallout 4, I quite enjoyed it. I liked NV as well, but I have now played F4 longer then NV.
Hours played says nothing about the quality of the game. Some of the best games ever per playthrough have varied in length.
Deus Ex 1: GOTY was fantastic and I think the best game ever - yet, it was never in 200 hours per playthrough ballpark. More like 30-40 per playthrough.
Same can be said about say Vampire: Bloodlines - and per playthrough, it's in the 20-30 hours ballpark. Same for Mass Effect 2, not including DLC's.
Then...there's monsters like DAO Ultimate, which I've spent over 150 hours with and loved.
I like Fallout 4 and think it's very good, despite lack of choice/consequence in base-game - but combat's a lot better. Though, to me, Far Harbor DLC is the best content in the game and I loved that; that certainly wasn't super-long either. Though, Far Harbor did a lot better overall w/ choice/consequence for what's there.
I'll take FO: NV Ultimate over FO4 GOTY any day. Better writing, characters, story, choice/consequence, and more. Just a fabulous RPG/shooter hybrid - more emphasis on the RPG here. I probably got over 100+ hours in that on one run through also - all DLC's included.
Oh, and Resident Evil 4 UHD is amazing and RE2 Remake - and those certainly ain't even 30 hours.
