'Fallout with a female lead is not my fallout'
You people are quite sad.

You schmucks do know that every mainline game (Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vega, 4 etc.) lets you play as a woman, right?

Back to the Amazon series, yeah, the series might be crap (I personally don't know), but it certainly isn't bad because a woman plays the leading role.

Elmofongo: From the creators of HBO's Westworld no less.
avatar
Breja: Well, there goes any hope for it.
I didn't mind Westworld, but almost everything HBO touches turns to crap.

Shmacky-McNuts: Critical Drinker is not always in line with my opinions, but what he does get correct, is the gender role changes. As in, when male characters are swapped, with no change to the logic to being female. Which is not just unrealistic, it is rediculous and insulting to the audience.
avatar
Breja: Right. And do you think we could maybe save that for when it has something to do with the topic, and drop it for now? Because there is no gender swapping going on here, it's just a female character. A new character. In a new story.
Was not even picked up. It was a comment about the youtuber Critical Drinker. Perhaps you can take your own advice and not be so quick to attack me. I do not care about who plays a lead role as you seem to presume.

I'm sorry, I presumed your post has some relation to the subject of this thread. How silly of me. Please, go ahead discussing random youtubers instead.
Funny how the trailer mentions Todd Howard as the 'acclaimed' creator of the Fallout games.
He wasn't associated with the Fallout franchise until Failout 3.

Anyway, I'm totally not going to watch it as these modern tv shows and movies are only good for insomnia therapy.
As a followup to my prev. post:

Just to be fair, I would've hated anything made along the lines of the previously canceled movie script as well. I will probably watch at least one episode if I am still able to when it comes out just out of curiosity, but I expect utter crap.

Also, this is a new series, not based on any specific game. Not only could you select your character's sex in every game, but a new show isn't replacing any male character with a female. WTF is wrong with you people? The only slightly valid argument is one based on strength, which, along with endurance, has always been a dump stat for me. It should be rather telling that 2 of the 3 prefab characters in both original games are not strength focused. I shoot guns. I only need STR 5 for my plasma rifle, and not even that since I can wear power armor. Skill tests are easily handled with Buffout. I expect there to be far too few drugs and too little power armor in use in this series, though. Yet another reason to prefer The Expanse (and, note that the main character in that show, while male, was also not strength focused).

Breja: To me it looks too clean, rather bland. Fallout should feel... I don't know, grimy? The world should look more "used". This looks kind of... sterile.
The only clean looking environments in that trailer are inside the vault and the military base.

And both these places should be clean, since people usually prefer not to live in filfth and garbage - at least when there is some kind of leadership/government around, that hands out the necessary assignments.

Which is definitely the case within the vault (an enclosed environment below the earth's surface) and the military (known for strict order and cleanliness within its bases).

Everything else looks just like you would expect it to look.
Looked used and lived in to me, except maybe the powered armor. Kind of reminded me of Star Wars Rogue One. Which also made me think how sterile eps 1-3 were, which visually ruined those films....well, added to the foul flavor.

Joe856382992: Female main character = woke shit. Will wait for the Critical Drinker review.

LegoDnD: Has there literally ever been a Fallout game without gender choice?
The TV series has that too?!? Wow...

I want to see the series with a genderfluid vampiric protagonist.

timppu: The TV series has that too?!? Wow...

I want to see the series with a genderfluid vampiric protagonist.
So let me get this straight: as long as the live-action production doesn't let the audience choose who appears on-screen more than anyone else, then that role must be filled by a man or else it's woke garbage?

Even if this is going to be woke garbage, which unfortunately may be the case, I'll settle for dumb-fucks like you not liking it as victory enough.

It's this kind of tribalistic nonsense we have to thank for so much of today's art and entertainment being shit.

Those who detest conflict are often pulled into it regardless. And in the needless battlefield that is modern pop culture, Joe and Timppu have demonstrated that "my side" is no less prone to brain-dead ideals than the anti-qualified cultists that are ruining everything. That ruination isn't something I can do much about, but a part of me can smile that some of those upset by it are unworthy of nice things anyway.

Uhm... good for you? I'm not sure what expect me to do with that information.

It's an incredibly sad, hateful and toxic way of looking at things, and it only justifies and encourages making crap bereft of artistic merit if upsetting someone is a benchmark for being good enough, so it's extremely detrimental to our culture and by extention to humanity at large, and of course it further encourages angry and hateful behaviour from the other side.

It's honestly about as close to dark side/sith way of thinking I've ever seen in real life, knowingly and proudly deriving satisfaction out of causing someone else some kind of distress. I guess we've reached a point of this absurd culture war where real people start to think like cartoonish bad guys.

Really, I sincerely regret resurrecting this thread and bringing up this damn trailer, it has turned out quite depressing.

Breja: And we're getting more of that too. It just so happens that the first trailer for season 2 dropped just after Fallout.

Honestly, I stopped watching that after the very first episode, I was just so bored. I don't know much about the Halo universe/plot, I only played the first game long ago, so I would have been indifferent to most major changes, but it was just so bland and dull...
Honestly, Fallout is a bit silly to begin with, because instead of rebuilding or bouncing back, the survivors decide the name of the game is squalor.

Ever heard of the New California Republic?

But of course Fallout is a bit silly. It's meant to be a bit silly. It's largely satire.
