I bought the Witcher 3 at future shop first day it was released. It has worked flawlessly except for GOG bs. This last time was it! Tried to fire it up a minute ago and I get a message that I don't have a valid copy! Yes there is a work around but I don't give a damn. You buy games for entertainment not for having to do work and GOG has the most terrible cluttered system ever. From this day forward I will never buy a game that is connected to gog in anyway. It took me 5 minutes just to get through captcha after 20 screens of pick a crosswalk! What a joke! Too pissed off right now to even play a game, good job GOG! Way to set the mood, never again.
When you bought the game did it come with GOG version? If so, you should of have an offline installer that would be linked to your account right now.

It's a second post today I don't understand what is it about. Sounds like buying a key on a VPN in a different shop for a different platform and being surprised it's not working here.

What is a future shop? Are you on vpns (captcha)? You can buy trough your mobile on public wifi if that helps. What's GOG bs? Did you try Galaxy? Did you found your offline installer? Is the Witcher added to your Go_G! Library?
Regards.

Uh...Future shop? The Iranian store in Canada that went defunct like 7 years ago?
I'm not sure what a Future World purchase has to do with GOG... Whatever.

Why in the world would you by a CDProject Red game from anywhere other than GOG?
GOG is by far the LEAST likely to have any bs involved with installing/operating the game.
As has been said, if it is really a GOG game you'd have access to the offline installer.

It sounds like you don't have the GOG version. Maybe the lesson here is don't buy games from Future Shop anymore....not that you can.

By the way, I once bought a Banana from Taco World 10 years ago back when it first came out too. And do you know that it doesn't work well with GOG either!? It's rotten and total garbage. Crazy right?

Heinz68:
It sounds like a problem with Galaxy (if so, then it's fixable). You should check your library through a web browser.

Oh, and by the way, you can simply start the game from its .exe (GOG's party trick - you do not need a client to run your games), but your achievements, playtime etc won't be registered by Galaxy, obviously.

OK, let me be the first so ask: Are you using the right account?

An also: Are you sure?

Really really sure?

Have you contacted support?

I leave out the question if you have tried any solutions, since you already denied that.

So I guess it's time

Since we're on the topic of whining, the above is a fair point... because I am a security-conscious person and I clear my cookies on browser close, GOG seems intent to turn me into a fire hydrant optimized neural network. Then some days I get traffic lights and I'm really bad at picking those out. Since I log in from the same bloody IP every damn time, can't I be trusted as a human, for Pete's sake?

For the same reason you delete your cookies. THey are security-conscious :)
They can't know if some nicaraguan hacker wrote a bot that hijacked your internet provider and is using your IP to fool their server.

Fair enough. But there's "security conscious" and there's "outright annoying". Some tweaks to the logic that is triggering these CAPTCHAs are sorely needed IMHO. Because there are days when I don't get them (without doing anything differently), but they are far apart. A user with an unchanging IP address that regularly purchases games from the store should get a bot-free pass, no? Or am I asking too much? :P

... does he also know my ID and password? :P

What do you imagine you are accomplishing by clearing cookies?

Unless you live among thieves who jump on to your keyboard each time you step away I don't see what this accomplishes.
And even if you do, can't you just lock your screen (Win->L) when you step away?

What is future shop?

Sounds more like the issue is with future shop selling you a bad key rather than GOG, assuming ofcourse that you actually bought a GOG copy of Witcher 3 and not a steam copy given that most keys seem to be steam keys. You might want to contact future shop about the issue tbh.

A clean slate. I imagine not everyone cares about topics such as tracking and fingerprinting, but any reasonable security system shouldn't rely on browser cookies and other hijackable kind of tokens.

Mind you I have 0 problems of this kind on tons of other websites I frequently visit, also without storing any persistent cookies, so I don't think it's too much to ask to tone down the CAPTCHAs a bit.

Of course. How could he log in otherwise?
