Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Venom: - games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
avatar
skeletonbow: The existing behaviour is not the intended behaviour, but rather the existing developmental state of the beta test and a known issue that it does not yet work as is intended or optimal. Should be addressed in a future update at some point, as should all of the issues they've posted above as "KNOWN ISSUES". Hope this helps.
That's not the problem. It doesn't have a chance to be a problem if there's no way to shut off updating universally before the game is added. See below.

avatar
cogadh: At the moment, you can only change that setting after the game has already been installed/imported into Galaxy, but in the Galaxy client options there is a global setting for auto-updates that is not functional in this version of the beta. Once that option is enabled, you can turn off auto updating completely. Remember, this is a beta test, not everything is going to work as advertised... yet.
I see it now. The grayed out option for this should be checked if it's a feature we're unable to turn off. A grayed out option with an empty check box means the feature can't be turned on.

Not really a big deal either way, if the plan for this client is to only support GOG releases and only in versions newer than mid-2014. The games most users will want to maintain as originally installed would have been setup before that.
I'll just leave this feedback here as well.

While I love the friend system, I think the notification system is pretty bad in all honesty. You literally have to search if someone sent you a message through galaxy instead of you being notified immediately by the program blinking. Or anything similar.

I mean you want to hit up a friend to play a game with them right? Well if they never notice getting a message, there's no point. The point is that the person receiving a message will get a notification that will draw their attention while they are doing something else. Be it browsing or playing a game. Even if they don't have time at that moment, you can arrange to play together. Currently the IM of galaxy is no different than the GOG message system or an e-mail based system. People will reply when they go look for it.
Anyone else gets "disk access problem" error?

Frist I got it when when I was importing folders of some already installed games. I just installed those games from scratch and everything went fine, so I didn't give it much thought.

But now I get it when I just try to download extras. For instance, Another World game files.
And I know it's not problem with my HDD because I tried it with 2 different disks.

Edit: There seems to be a conflict Avast. I've disabled it and now Galaxy seems to work fine. Anyone else using Avast can confirm this?

For what it's worth, the wishes "Add Friends via Username or Email Address", "Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux", and "Pause Download Capability" are now marked as "in progress".

Keep up the good work GOG, and keep improving the client! :)
avatar
skeletonbow: Beware though, importing games into Galaxy that have had mods applied or other changes may cause the mods etc. to be obliterated as Galaxy currently does an initial sync update between their server and your local install even if updates are disabled apparently. I've got BG 1&2 installed with the mod that joins the two games together, the highres/widescreen mod and some others. I haven't tested it yet but it's possible Galaxy might have hosed it on me. :) Not a concern to me though as it is easy enough to fix when I'm ready to play it if it is hosed. :)
Yes, I've read it could happen, so I switched the auto-update function to disabled as soon as I got the BG games coupled to Galaxy. Beforehand I had made backups of the complete game folders and afterwards checked the added games with the backup folders and they weren't changed (exact same number of bytes). So if you're quick, you can disable the update before it does *&!# up your game.
I have the client and all my games installed on my D drive (HDD) right now. Can I move a specific games install folder to the C drive (SSD) and just import the folder again to the client? Or would I just have to use the installer and install it on my C drive?

I haven't tried it, but I believe moving the files might actually work. The only problem might be if the game requires certain registry entries that specify the install directory in some way. Simply moving the files will leave to old registry entries unchanged and the game may not run properly, assuming that Galaxy doesn't take the extra step of re-creating/altering the registry as well.
I added a friend to my Gog Galaxy Beta Chat client and it showed him offline until I exited out of the gog client and re-opened it. I believe I did not show up to him either until he did the same thing.

Also if the chat client is hidden and you click Gog Icon on the windows taskbar , it opens up the chat box if it's already open but you need to click the chat box again to actually start typing in it once again.

Love the new beta features so far.
On a positive note: I just fired up Aliens vs. Predator 2000 multiplayer for about 20 minutes to give the multiplayer a test run again and it worked fine, but when I exited the game I checked to see if Galaxy had game tracking working yet and it shows I played the game for 21m. I exited the client and started it back up to say if that stuck between invocations and it did indeed, so it looks like game time tracking is now working at least for AvP, but presumably for all games.

My appreciation and gratitude to the Galaxy devs for getting that working! Thanks!
Tried to import "Gods Will be watching" via manual import through the library - game was already installed there and is running fine. Galaxy aborted with "broken installation"

Galaxy Log:
2015-05-07 01:27:34:355 [galaxy_client][Information]: Loading minimanifest C:\Program Files\Gods Will Be Watching\goggame-0000000000.info
2015-05-07 01:27:34:355 [galaxy_client][Information]: Loading minimanifest C:\Program Files\Gods Will Be Watching\goggame-1207664883.info
2015-05-07 01:27:34:356 [galaxy_client][Error]: The game installed at 'C:\Program Files\Gods Will Be Watching' has 2 standalones. Should have exactly 1. Cannot continue.

Funny error message "exactly 1" how often will they have 1.45533 standalones? ;)
I'd also like to know what these 145MB updates are that Galaxy does every time I import a game.
Anyone know how to change the instalation languaje? It´s English for default.
The search button for the forum doesn't work (1.0.0.871).

Click it nothing happens.

Edit: My net was down. Ignore .....

So, besides friends stuff, does anyone see anything changed from the last alpha build to beta?

marcusghost: Anyone know how to change the instalation languaje? It´s English for default.
Libary -> "Not all Games supported right now" -> Downlaod Extras -> Lang: .......

there u can select the lang. it's a beta client... use the gog downloader or direct dl instead

If a game has multiple installation languages available, go to your library, click on a game, then click "More" and then "Configure". There'll be a drop-down menu to change the language. Most games have an option to change the language in-game, though, so this only works if a game actually has separate installers for different languages.
