timppu: I use Steam quite often (mainly to play TeamFortress 2), and I don't even know what the inventory and level up systems are. So, if I can use Steam without caring about them, I'm fine even if Galaxy would have them. Especially considering that currently I am not using Galaxy at all, even for downloading the standalone installers.
The problem is that whenever GOG updates/fixes something, it breaks something else. Tradition dictates that for inventory and level up systems to actually work, something else would have to be broken; and that something else is probably more important.
I hope gog.com employees never add a inventory system or a level up system to GoG Galaxy.

That stuff that VALVe added to Steam is stupid and useless.
As someone who registered on Steam almost 12 years ago and has now close to 15 games there (I use the family share deal with my bro who has like 800+ games, so...) I can say that I'd easily "trade" this decade of Steam for one year of Galaxy. Ain't trying to demonize the whole deal in here, if what this is all about.

It's just that Galaxy is so damn clean, precise and functional. Spectacular.
And these new features will add even more greatness to it. :)

Starmaker: If/when it does, I'll quit.

zeroxxx: Nobody will miss you
GOG will, if their games per user distribution is anything like Steam's. Since the purpose of any such metagaming system is to attract and retain long-term users (flyover users won't care either way), pre-emptive feedback is actually meaningful.

zeroxxx: I think.
I have yet to see evidence of this.
I hope not... That shit is beyond stupid.
I'd much rather a simple overlay like Steam's and a built in FPS counter. Achievements are fine for those who want them as they are easily ignored by any who don't.

Kardwill: I kinda hope they work on some other features first, like proper patching, compressed downloads, a better sorting of the game library, better links between the library, the storepages and the game-specific forums... You know, basic client functionalities? ^^
This.

"If you don't like them, just ignore them" is an oversimplification, though.

First, there are different ways to implement achievements for "those who want them", some notably less good than others. If the system is meant to attract and retain a particular usergroup, it should be good at it.

Second, the value of achievements depends on the game in question. For example, in Telltale's series, achievements are a platform requirement; they're completely incidental to the game and no one will care either way. But other games rely on them as a hint/progress system (Terraria, among others) or even the primary persistence mechanic (Reus, Ziggurat, Long Live the Queen, WItcher Adventure Game). So the do want / do not want differentiation is rather fuzzy.

Enebias: I'd rather avoid any kind of "metagaming", as it tends to draw the worst out of people and to degenerate in obsessions. I know of many people who stopped enjoying their games because their psyche just forced them to unlock every possible achievement and gain levels and medals; that way, videogaming becomes just another form of office work, imo.
That said, if they did that I would simply ignore it, as luckily my mind is still strong enough to not care about it! :P

Now, please pardon me when I scold this guy, but my patience ran out: I'm pretty sure your last remark would be much more appropriate if pointed against you.
Do you really need to always be so much bitter and arrogant with your continuous and pointlessly inflammatory remarks? Learn how to behave politely and start being constructive rather than bashing everyone and everything, for a change! I'm tired of your disrespectful rants "à la tough guy wannabe", and I'm pretty sure we could all live better without them. You're obviously free to speak your mind (and many of your points might actually be valid), but please do so with a bit of decency.
If you don't like my posts, ignore, or even better, report. It is really that simple. Scolding me has no effect, mind you.
I know most of the GOG community doesnt like the idea but people please, see it from another point of view.

Before the Trading Cards system the only game I had on Steam was Team Fortress 2. The new trading currency gave me the opportunity to get more games by trading useless cards, the exact same thing is happening to me on GOG.

Its not my fault that my wage is way to small (the equivalent to 2USD per week) to buy games nor it is that GOG for some reason banned my country from buying (or at least that happened the very only time I bough a game here).

Its ok if you dont like the idea or if you think it is a bad idea but at least think about it from another point of view

And feedbacks are actually useful it brings anything positive. People whining about Galaxy don't bring anything useful when it's an optional client to begin with.

It's so simple, it's an optional thing, yet people whining. I can't even understand the logic of GOG lunatics.

I'll pass on some of the features steam has, like those cards.

The problem is that it's less and less optional each passing week. Support has already begun sending out e-mail responses to customers that they must install Galaxy to fix problems. Certain games don't work fully without it. The entire shelf system has been abandoned and all shelf functionality removed in order to try and force customers to use Galaxy for game organization.

Eventually, they will drop the pretense that it's optional, and GOG will finish its transformation into a 2nd division Steam.

If gog.com ever makes the GoG Galaxy client a mandatory requirement or makes the GoG Galaxy client a Digital Rights Management (DRM) copy protection client software I will riot so much on the gog.com forums everyday.

For me gog.com is the last place of freedom of where I can purchase video games that are 100% Digital Rights Management (DRM) free.

The gog.com forums will break because of me.
Seriously now, does Steam have level up system? Cards? Badges? Hahaha I didn't even know what I have installed in my system. Look what i've been missing! Seriously now, I used Steam only to authenticate the 8 games I bought since 2013 and nowadays I use it in offline mode, only to launch the games and play them. Or more specifically, the three of them.
