Gog lost money in his first semester of the year (risk of disappearance ???)

Gog had losses in his first semester of the year unlike the previous year he had gains.

Unfortunately it will be very difficult for CdProjeck to keep gog.com open if the store continues to generate losses. The future right now is very doubtful for gog.com sadly,

They have fought against the industry (drm, always online), but it is very difficult.

Calm your tits, losses are absolutely normal in small doses, it means investment and growth.

Getting game rights ain't cheap, especially when a big player like Paradox is involved.
Whatever happens, remember you can back up your games.
CDP made a profit as a company, please keep in mind that GOG helped a lot to making Witcher franchise so popular and because of that increased income of CDP Red segment.

Wasn't this directly contributed to Gwent, due to a change in how they devide the money up? I could be wrong but I remember something about that.

Darvond: Calm your tits,
Now THAT I'd like to see! :D
the fact is. losses happen
now if this happens for lets say the next straight 5 - 10 years yeah it will be a problem
but gog has lasted for 10 years already, I say for the immediate and somewhat long term future gog will be fine.
now if some of gogs problems dont get ironed out it could affect business. but steam has its issues and its still going on strong.

so I wouldnt worry.

Back before Witcher 3 was released, it wasn't uncommon for GoG to barely break even for the 1st quarter. It's always the worst quarter of the year and is usually more than made up for in the last 7 months of the year with the Summer/Fall and Winter sales.

And I just got an email the other day that Gwent was transferred over to GOG, at least for control of privacy rights so I'm assuming they've handed it off to correct this

Either way, while GOG may not be a great moneymaker, I think as long as it breaks even it's probably worth it for CDP to keep it around to have a digital store to sell their own games through

Yes but unlike steam you have offline installers and so all isn't lost and where is the official confirmation of this?

There is none, StrongSolider is just overreacting to a fiscal report, if gog was closing down there would be a huge announcement about it.

Yes, but we don't know why there is loss: was it investment which should generate income later which will cover this loss, was it some funds moving or it was just a clear loss - without knowing all information it can be anything. And we don't know full info about this matter.

Yes, I remember GOG promised that should they ever be closed - they will warn customers on a month before so they could download all their games.

Also, judging by numbers - loss isn't that big at all. But again - I don't know full info, so I can't make any conclusions.

Like I said before, losses happen in business, if this was like the 4th or 5th straight year of losses, then yes I would be concerned, but that happens in business, a loss for a quarter isnt really a problem, now unless CDRP and GOG are "cooking the books" (like what happened with ENRON) I think there is no cause for concern.

like come on guys, gog has been here for 10 years, TEN YEARS, thats not a small accomplishment in the digital marketplace, especially with steam around, stardocks impulse didnt even last half this long, so GOG is obviously doing something right.
