I would contact support as it could be an unknown server issue.
I have that too. Most likely server sided.

This used to be a common occurrence with the gog downloader. If it's caused by the same issue, then a setting might be able to be changed. The old settingg was called "concurrent downloads." It should be changed to 1, if that setting exists.

If you don't want Galaxy, you can try the gog downloader, but Galaxy, in general, does a good job.

My experience is that I usually have faster connections to gog than steam.

P.s. or temporary issue. Contact support.

"concurent downloads" I don't see it in the settings, if it is anywhere it is in some "ini" file well hidden(of course) but I wouldn't know where to look the old downloader requires the use of a browser and is tedius or I would use it.
works fine for a time then it dies down to a crawl. I don't know, but it maybe an AT&T problem but I am still going to contact GOG support. thanks for all the replies.

It works for me most of the time but sometimes it really does slow down. At that point I press pause, then continue and it continues loading at full speed.
I get the same problem as the OP when downloading installersm at first I thought it was because of the sucky internet in this country. I thought everything was fine for everyone else until I saw this thread.

I have no problems downloading the backup installers through the browser most of the time.

It's a queue. You (up) something to play, or play a game that uses a (pool) [url=https://www.dictionary.com/browse/cue]cue, or wait for your cue to say your lines in a play.
I have tried the methods discribed by posters here. I have even shut down the entire program and restarted with varying results and gone so far as rebooting the entire system. Only to come up with a hike in download speed no more than 1-5 minute intervals. The drop to 0 is more than 30 minutes at a time. It happens more frequently now. in fact, it is more at 0.0/MB/s sometimes for 30 minutes at a time with the top speed gained and dropping within 5 minutes of each hike. I spend more time restarting it than downloading games. I am surpised and a bit disgusted that GOG no longer fixes things but instead promotes "new" features at every "update". I am tired of Games not getting fixed(including most classic titles) and am tired of GOG spending more time promoting "Indie" titles(mostly amatures) than in fixing its server and fiixing Old games. GOG used to stand for "Good Old Games" Now it is just a group of letters and they have little interest in fixing even the abilty to download your stuff. It has been months and no fix. I have tried many AV/Firewall optinos and have gone back to Windows 10 default loadout(which was working fine before) and no go! since around the early part of december of last year I have still had this frequent dropout, and as another said, it is not ISP nor the internet(MY AT&T works fine for all else too) it is GOG and Galaxy! the GOG downloader works fine but it is not good for downloading a large group of games. the Browser can get flaky too if you continually ping the downlaod links on the GOG site. Galaxy has no bug reporter(I seem to recall it once did, thatt was removed for some strange reason). I wonder why.
Thanks everyone for trying!

Having similar issues, except it doesn't happen all the time for me. Mantis report here if you want to chime in on it: http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=5919

Have you run a tracert on the download server to make sure you're not going through as bad hop? The issue could also be a corrupted DNS. Try a DNS cache flush.
Don't know if it's related, but just a few hours earlier today I observed big delays when initializing downloads through GOG Downloader. These delays never occurred before and they were only upon download initialization, after the downloads started everything seemed to work ok without interruptions (well, with the usual speed hiccups every now and then).
Maybe a general issue on GOG's servers? Who knows. Maybe some huge GOG update™ incoming?

I'm not sure what that is but I made two reports. I also have "white outs" when Galaxy has been downloading for long periods and when it attempts to install certain games it whites out the screen and freezes it is hard to recover from. I had to reboot Windows several times and restart the gal clinet each itme to finally get it back on track.

tell me how to do this. I also notice my Creative "connect" is slow to load. Galaxy also frequently "whites out".

oddly it is still occurring as fo May 24. I also recently got my ISP tech to repair my lines in my back yard and also replace my modem. still Galaxy fails and drops out and causes white out issue. it never crashes but it sure wants tol the hiccups don't occur on other websites nor do I have trouble with Steam or Origin clents. GOG has had many patches not one time did they consider this an issue. but it is.
