Have you ever felt desire to play multiple games at the same time and having a problem with deciding which one to start?

Not to mention I got almost 400 games (391) in four years and still there are some games that are going to be released this year which I would definitely snatch/pre-order?
I just try some of them and when one 'sticks' with me, I continue with that one. The ones I skipped have to be started again from the beginning (not all of them - but big RPGs e.g. can't really be picked up again a year later).

Now it's Mass Effect, which really sucked me into its story and lore. I plan to continue with ME2 & 3 - but since they're so time intensive, that could change.

How I decide: try one that seems kinda interesting, get bored with it in 30 minutes, and swear to never buy a game again 'cos they all suk :). That's how you end up with 1200 games.

I feel that way all the time!. I use to buy multiple games at once and I choose 1 or 3 to play first. I also try to choose a game according to what my inner self desires. For example, I wanted to play Divinity original sin 2 & Vampire: The Masquerade so badly that I tried them for a few hours and then decided what to do.

Friendly advice: Try your best to complete one or two games before playing a new one or you will get overwhelmed haha
Nowadays I try to stick with my couple installed games at a time which I haven't finished yet.

When it is time to choose some new game, it just goes on a whim. Sometimes it just might be someone in this forum mentioning some game and I am like "yeah, I totally need to try that game", and then install it and start playing properly. Quite often I try to play the series of games from the start, if humanly possible. So, like, as I have the three Bioshock or The Witcher games in my library and haven't played them yet... no I am not going to jump right into the third game on each series, or play them in random order.

That said, quite often my initial reactions to starting playing about any game is a bit... underwhelmed and lukewarm. I am first like "Erm... so this game is supposed to be a classic?" or "This is what I've been waiting to play for 15 years and heard so many praises about?". Fortunately though, quite often that is simply because of the initial learning curve, getting to know the controls and how the gameworld works. After that it quite often clicks together and I start properly enjoying the game. There are preciously few games that I really enjoyed from the very start to the full, with a strong start. Starcraft and System Shock are two such games though.

That is also the reason why I try to stick to games, instead of trying them out for 30 minutes and then "nope, next...". With some games that point comes much later, e.g. it took awhile when I really started enjoying e.g. Diablo 2. Also with many RPGs, they become more enjoyable when you get more experience and are not such a simple weakling anymore.

I usually have one game I know I'll play with total attention (like a story driven RPG, for example) and a few "podcast friendly" games installed simultaneously.
I try to alternate between longer RPG games and a series of shorter ones (usually point-and-click or action), with some strategy thrown in the middle.

But in the end I just take a look at my list of games and I ask myself what I feel like playing at that point. Having a moderately sized backlog helps. Once I picked a game, I normally stick with it until the end.

use the coin power!
Start at the beginning (alphanumerically), work your way through, when you get to the end, then stop...

For games I already have I tend to first pick a genre that I am either not playing atm or not having enough of with the other games i'm playing. I then find a few example from my backlog and pick from those, depending on if I want more story or action & if I want more lighthearted and comedic world/gameplay or more serious & dark.

Sometimes I also just find a game I beat and have some nostalgia for and want to play again and do that, or try to finish a game from the past I never complete for whatever reason.

-------

For new and upcoming games I stick to stuff either my PC can run or for the few new systems I have, or I buy older stuff for older systems off of eBay and other sites to play.

-------

I also try to limit what games I add to my backlog or buy as I have enough right now to last me for quite a while, and don't just go through massive store lists and add everything that looks good like I used to. I mainly add new games to wishlists that I see others mention or that seem good from trailers/pics I come across online, and the good ones in sales I want to get later. This helps to mitigate the backlog growth a bit.
Flip a disk.
I go by "periods". Right now I'm in my "cinematic platforming" period, so I'm playing all the genre's games I had on my list of "things to try asap" for many years....

Likely, after some other platformers, and maybe all the 4 Trine games, and Mirrors' Edge Catalyst, I'll enter a "pure GDR" period with Baldur's Gate and the other "Infinity" titles (which I just purchased in DVD compilation form), the three Eye of the Beholder games and such...

Oh, and then there's the "play the entire saga" habit I have: right now I'm also playing all the Prince of Persia games (I'm at PoP 3D at the moment), then I will switch to the Blood Omen/Legacy of Kain saga...

For me it's either I play one game at a time, or I start a lot of them in short period of time and end up playing 1 or 2.

I do the genre thing sometimes as well, but I often add other games in to the mix as well to keep it interesting, and I also do the whole "saga thing". I am doing it now with a replay of Mass Effect(am on game 3 atm on 360) as a renegade for a change.
I made a chronological play list.
Been playing chronologically for nearly 10 years now, and I'm currently playing Diablo 2 (June 2000), and oldest game I completed being Wizardry 1 from 1981.
Now I concentrate on one game at a time, and I complete nearly all.
