While I was waiting for the new releases to be announced (*), I went through my wishlist, to see if I could weed out some games.
(*) here they are, btw:

And boy - it turned out, that I had a lot of games on my wishlist that I never bought, even if they were on sale.

Some of these games must have been sitting on my wishlist for years. Some of them are available for a real cheap base price already, and can even get ridiculous cheap if on sale.

And yet - I never buy them. Oh, of course I look at them when they go on sale, to decide if I should give them a go this time...I even put some of them regularily in my cart - only to delete them again, before check-out.

And today - finally - I said to myself "why do I keep these games in my wishlist, if I obviously don't intend to ever buy them?"

So I deleted them rigorously.

I cut my wishlist from 176 games down to 72 games.

And to be clear: some of these 72 games will probably only remain on my wishlist until I feel another urge to get rid of them.

But for one day, getting rid of 104 "dead bodies" from my "wished, but never buying-collection" is good enough.

So - how about you?
Do you have these "dead bodies" lying around in your wishlists?

Games, that you -for some reason- thought, you would definitely buy somedays (if the price is right, if you're in the mood for the genre, etc.), but in the end only served to artificially bloat your wishlist?

What was your highest "body count" when deleting games from your wishlist?
For me, I think, it was these 104 of today.

I try to increase my wishlist, because I'm very picky.
I have a short wishlist, about one hundred games. Last year a did a huge reduction days before gog and telltale gave games before they remove it. Sort i kept Tales of Monkey Island, but i miss for instance Strong bad's cool game for attractive people that i wishlisted and removed days before, a pitty.

But it only happen one time (gift games from a dead company), is absurd wishlist ALL the cataleg of gog by this happens again.
Yeah I've had to do some 'spring-cleaning' on my wishlist a couple of times. It's 42 strong at the moment. It will probably stay that way a while though as I'm trying to finish some of the prominent titles I already have. Xenonauts at the moment so that I can properly move onto Don't Starve / Caesar 3 afterwards.

Either your idea of being "picky" is very different from mine, or maybe you meant you want to "decrease" your wishlist...?

Yeah, from time to time I also cut down the list. But usually only by a few games...today the deleting was really massive.

A list of 42 seems to be both: manageable and reasonable, I guess.

My wishlist consist of these things:

1. Sequel or prequel of games that was part of a partially owned series
2. DLC or upgrade edition (my steam wishlist also contain lots of 'em)
3. Games that I used to play back in the day and supposed to be bought if it hits historical low

But in my present gog situation, I never added new games on them. It always hover below 50 just to monitor price fluctuation.

Games that will stay on them for a long time is The Legend of Heroes series, Divinity OS 2 and Shadow Warrior 2013. The recent sales price on them is still too expensive for my taste even if I could spend some here.

I'm regularly looking for new games to play, and of course I wish to play sometimes something new, but my pickiness often makes that task a chore.
346 and counting... o_0

But my wishlist is more of a "keep an eye on" list than an actual "wish" list.
I use Adalia Fundamentals and always plan to prioritize the entries with its help, but never seem to come around to actually do it.
I only remove single entries, most often of games I put on the list as "interesting" on release, but checking them later and reading some reviews deciding they're not for me after all.

1-3: my wishlist (as of now!) contains mostly games that are "Coming Soon" or "In Development", plus games where I have the feeling, I will buy and actually play(!) someday.

The majority of the ones that I deleted today were really old games, that I always wanted to (re-)buy, but which I never truly was expecting myself to ever play (again).
So, any money spent on them would only have been spent to embiggen my "pile of shame".

4: same here - some (newer) games are still simply too expensive right now. I like to keep those games on the WL to not forget about them.

I have slightly less than half that on my wishlist (151), but I keep it for pretty much exactly the same reason you do.

BreOl72: "Coming Soon" or "In Development"
Yea I don't add those. There are still many older games that I need to catch-up with, rather than gambling with unproven lots. Adding Bloodlines 2 or CP2077 for example, I don't think my PC will be good for them. Maybe in the future, but it's pointless now.

Phew! That's something...

Same here. At release I put them on the list, and after a few months, I go and read the reviews, only to find something mentioned there, that would ruin the fun for me. And off the list they go again... ;)
There was a time when I decided to clean up my wishlist on Steam; I removed the only game I had on my list.

I guess all games but two on my fifty titles strong GOG wishlist are there waiting for when I start running out ot things to play.

Understandable.
But putting them on the list is just ensuring that you don't forget that they exist until their quality (or the lack thereof) is proven (by other customers/reviews).
you have my +1, petal, lol

mah wishlist is where gamies go to die
