Someone online said that GOG was suffering financially and that there is a risk that it would go under, meaning my games library would be gone.

So being the paranoid person that I am, preparing for any situation, started backing up all my games just in case of that possibility.

But halfway through that, I thought to myself "Should I believe just one person?" so I'm asking you guys, just to double check.

I suggest by the year 2099, GOG may have shut down.

GOG's financial issues are sniffles compared to the woes of other companies. Don't worry too much about it; even as some staff was laid off.
The release of Diablo has secured the company's future for all time!

For someone paranoid you're awfuly trusting of "someone online" on the internet.

I'd say no, but for a more elaborate answer you can just browse through the myriad of similar threads before yours asking the same question with better answers than I could provide you with.

Doesn't take a lot to understand that in a service that upholds DRM-Free games, it's hardly possible to lose your library since you can just backup them on your own.

No.
Short of the story is: you should always back up and continue to back up and update them if needed regardless of any financial situation, keep several back ups on different hardrives just in case.

Depends on how much of their revenue they're spending on booze, blow, and hookers.

From the looks of GOG corporate offices these days, I have a feeling they're gonna do just fine.
Thank you all for your input :) and I realized that if GOG "were" to shut down (and take my library with it) they would give plenty of warning beforehand.

I'm more worried about the other half of their money that they're just squandering.
Please can you people just STOP with these threads for fuck sake?

Real estate. After enough booze, blow, and hookers there's incentive to buy property to try and go into those markets for yourself. At least... that's what we do here in the United States.

No! An inside source at GOG has told me that they have plans to deal with the sun going supernova. :-P
Sooner or later, every single company that has ever existed, or will ever exist, will shut down.
