No... just no...

DRM already sucks in everything its been plastered on. Now there should be DRM on Jpeg files? What?!

FLIF will make JPEG obsolete anyway:

This guy is a genius and as much anti-DRM as possible.

This is ludicrous and will in many cases actually bite the very people who're using the DRM in the arse. This especially goes for large corporations, which undoubtedly be the first in line to implement it.
Tried accessing the site, but it took almost two minutes to load for some reason and the images wouldn't come up.
Finally, we need to protect to rare pepes.

Seriously thogh this is stupid, people are going to find a way arund it pretty quickly i guess. btw link is not working for me.

How does it compare sizewise with JPEG? I only see comparison with lossless JPEG 2000, and there are times when a lossless image is like shooting mosquitoes with a bazooka.

Pretty good, although it was meant as a lossless format, it has some other use cases as well, especcially when it comes to mobile browsing, although it needs some cooperations.

Here is the discussion if you're interested.

Don't they know I can just hit "print screen" and make a new image in MS Paint?

Which is often how images are saved, re-cropped without the added meta data attached...

DRM added to images is going to flop... and if it's complex, requires a lot of extra work or new fees, companies that relied on Jpeg for saving images (say, camera companies?) would go towards a open and free source.

Looks interesting and promising :)

It's funny. Copyright has never been more restrictive. Stuff in the public domain can suddenly enter copyright. DMCA is downright insane. TPP is gonna expand the copyright period by 20 years ...

.. and as the same time, it has never been easier to copy stuff.

It's like two seperate realities, drifting further and further apart.

*Sigh* yeah... annoying... I keep thinking that nothing is ever going to go in the public domain anymore (that wasn't put there immediately). Maybe we need a hard reset on everything.

Thankfully nearly useless for print (from the point of view of someone who has had their work nicked countless times for just that). Not that I think any level of DRM would do any good.

Thing is, there has already been an attempt at DRM on digital images - a certain premium plugin for photoshop. Didnt work out too well either.

Which would leave the little people (like me) who live entirely off their creative works and ability to control them up shit creek while the corporations remain feeding like the tallest hogs in the trough!
