KasperHviid: And there's FreeCell too!
Have you played all 32k different hands in FreeCell?

tinyE: that game is impossible! XD

Themken: Ah! Here is a hot hint: If you have trouble in European Wars, play the other two instead. You can import the campaign from EW if you like to. Also, the speed needs to be set according to taste, capabilities and computer speed.
It's the resources that do me in.
and I want to be VERY clear, I'm not bemoaning the game, it's a great game and a great series, it is just HAAAARD! Too hard for me, but for anyone looking for a very challenging well put together RTS, you really can't do much better.

Unfortunately, for old men like myself who no longer possess the brain power or reflex, it's just a little too much.

Listen young man, you are only as old as you feel. I wonder if somebody has made a good guide about resource management in Cossacks. For some reason I seem to have grasped it very well but in some other games I suck (and not only in vampire games....doh! Still need to finish BloodRayne).
Torchlight 2 can last you hundreds of hours if you are into Diablo-style games, especially with its tons of mods for all your tastes.

Would be great , but too expensive .

it's worth it.

Even without the mods the game is huge, the character variations are huge, the enemies varied, the Easter Eggs brilliant (Silence of the Lambs, The Goonies just to name a few).

And then of course the pets/sidekicks: A head crab! :D
Downwell.

I'll say Spelunky again.
Downwell is actually pretty neat.

I think the most important procedurally generated game is Minecraft. The procedural generation really generates a world from scratch here.
I'm hoping to get a really good roguelike with really good procedural generation on GOG.
