Time4Tea: Selling DRM-ed Epic games through Galaxy is damaging to DRM-free, since it allows access to GOG's userbase to developers who are selling DRM-ed games and reduces the incentive for them to release DRM-free in the first place.
Let's be honest, DRM free for all/most games is likely a pipe dream for the near future.....many of the bigger companies just don't care about it that much, despite the bones they throw us(a few DRM free games here and there) to act like they care. As such I don't think epic games being sold on galaxy's store is going to change much and/or reduce the DRM free cause much further, and to that end I am somewhat okay with such. Of course I can see why others might feel differently and I somewhat respect their stances as well.
(I am also this way, in part, because any games I buy I create DRM free backups for[which is legal under my area's laws]....should the game not be DRM free in the first place)

Time4Tea: ^ this. This cross-store initiative is not compatible with GOG's DRM-free promise and should be scrapped immediately.

anzial: You assume that GOG itself is not moving towards eliminating DRM-free policy. There are already DRM games sold on GOG proper, requiring galaxy for full functionality, and other signs that DRM free GOG is in the past, DRM is the future for all, GOG included.
Oh, I don’t think DRM per se is going to get bigger. That’s small fry. Online only/gated/streaming, now that’s the future. Far less risk of users cracking something if they don’t have anything. Maybe the recent partnering up with GeForce now is more instructive in the direction forward.

WinterSnowfall: Must I train myself to let go of GOG?
Or simply continue using the store through GOG's webpage as usual. That way you'll never know there are more worse options available. ;)

I've disabled the store page in Galaxy from the very start. All I use it for is managing my games. As it should be.

How will I ever manage my games without galaxy…

I'm not a Galaxy user anyway... I'm just concerned this may open up new avenues of thought in GOG upper management. Will they become corrupted by the same parasitic organism that has taken over the executives of EA and Activision(/Blizzard)?

I just stumbled on that they're releasing a free-to-play mobile game based on The Witcher in just under a week from now.

EDIT: Here's the trailer

Orkhepaj: drm-free is the past, soon all the games will be only available for remote playing subscriptions
Perhaps on consoles and mobile. On computers, there is no way to stop DRM free games from being made and distributed.

I'm OK with cloud based or browser based gaming for always online MP games, there is a lot of appeal to that on both sides.

Been around a long time and every 10 years or so ppl speak nonsense about what will end and what will remain.

In the 80's PDA were going to kill computers and computer games...

In 90's computer gaming was coming to an end because of consoles...

DRM Free starting computer gaming and it will be there when it ends. Shazbot!
