Lord_Kane: to be fair, Morolf isnt wrong, twitter at moments can be incredibly toxic, but thats only if you follow certain cretins and their social circles.
This is true and I find it hard to understand why do people criticise the downsides of social media even though all these problems could be simply alleviated by following only select individual. Furthermore, this is a default mode for most such media as you need to willingly 'follow' or 'observe' someone to see what that person has to say. 'Stupid' or 'toxic' content is everywhere, be it oral communication, books, newspapers, TV, movies and video games. People tend to pick sources they use, so there is no point in doing the same thing with social media. You see what you want to see.

No, it is still a hammer. Tool can be used in many different ways.

The point I was trying to make was the morolf was being wrong in his assesment that social media is all bad all the time, I was actually saying what you were saying.

To sum up, people only make social media a weapon if they choose to use it in a such a fashion.
you already can talk with gag folks on gag. I dont get your point, OP. Not to mention misleading thread's name

Twitter is the only social media I use (unless Reddit counts as one?). I occasionally say what's on my mind but otherwise I just retweet interesting things to me.

Should you care...
There are exceptions but generally the message on twiiter is "I hate you".

what is wrong with social networks?
It seems to me that social networks, social media are resources that very often test people for their adequacy and level of intelligence. For example, you can use social networks to bluntly scroll the news feed, or you can use this time to good use. So with dating sites for example. I read here reviews about different sites https://hookupmasters.com/adult-dating-sites/ashley-madison-review/. I immediately understand which resources are worth visiting and which ones should be avoided because of the danger.
