paladin181: Zookeeper builds got terribly nerfed IIRC. I used to love the zookeeper.
In the later updates they got pushed up to be the best single player option, as they arent as item dependant as other classes. Skels and CE together really rock single player.

Sure game content is not that much more into multiplayer, but there were alot more active multiplayer people. Played multiplayer mostly with friends and not in public games, but trading for eq and the double res and more standard monsters in hell made multiplayer much more fun, as you didnt have to rely on your merc to kill certain enemies.

tinyE: I keep it simple.
Three or four maxed out skeletons and a Necromancer that can handle himself in a melee fight.

More than that and areas like the worm tunnels become too hard to navigate.
avatar
paladin181: Hahah. 3 Maxed skeleton, two mages and a blood Golem while spamming Bone Spear and bone wall to corral and obliterate the enemies. Meleemancers are not my thing.
I didn't say a meleemancer, just one who can handle himself, if need be. Basically, don't leave him totally defenseless.

Greatest thing about LOD was the heads. It allows you to experiment with all those cool powers.

moobot83: just to let you know you can buy diablo 2 from bnet shop, its drm free aswell all u need is what ane mail to create a bnet account then buy it simple, you dnt need a luancher or anything, so for old blizzard games its basically like GOG just make an account and buy the games. the only games they dnt sell are diablo 1 which is here now and warcraft 1 and 2 which they said will be coming here in the future
LOL. Wrong. You have to download a DRMed installer to install it. I get it. This became my only option after I bought the disc set online, but the guy left out the cinematics disc ob the base game and the CD code for LOD.

You can also use your retail diablo 2 ,lod keys to activate on battlenet and get the digital version of diablo 2 , lod given they were not activated by someone else before.

The installer will download the game install files first but then you can delete the web installer and keep the downloaded game install and install it offline whenever you want.
Kinda like gamersgate downloader

ChrisGriffin: Even more so, how likely it would be to be able to play it online, aka Battle Net?

If it was possible, how could it work?

Would GOG users join other players on Battle Net, or would we get our own separate GOG server?
In my opinion (at this point) - very unlikely.

Already released title and two planned have one thing in common - they're not sold on Blizzard's/Battle.net store, and Blizzard is not planning to make any remaster/remake of them. In effect, it's convenient for them them to "dump" those titles here, on GOG (other thing is that we're more than happy to have those games here).

But for Diablo 2, which is sold by them and (if I remember correctly) had already announced HD re-release, they're rather going to sell it in their store only.

Looking for what they've done with first Starcraft ("free" version requires battle.net client to work, as well as HD remaster, I've recently learned from one user here on GOG that even retail version, after some patch, have "mandatory" downloaded HD content - not active until buying HD remake). In my opinion they're planning to do similar thing with Diablo 2 - literally "hold it" in clutches of their client (retail version of Blizzard older games were capable of running without "mandatory" Blizz's client, now they seem to eliminate this with their "remasters").

As already said, they still sell Diablo 2, it still works wonderfully and still has a playerbase, so i highly highly doubt it
Here's a detailed breakdown of my thoughts on the matter.
I'd easily pay $19.99 for Diablo 2 and it's expansion here on GOG.

I wouldn't.

I bought one of the original special editions with the DVD extras, a playable P&P version of D2 and a separate Battle Box version of Diablo 2. I don't see a reason to purchase it again. With a No CD crack or using a CD Emulator and having CD's copied i see no reason to give them more money, unless it is vastly better in some fashion, like being better for modding or some heavy compatibility fixes.

Well a lot of us don't even have D2 like me. Or lost their CDs over time etc, which happens.
