Even more so, how likely it would be to be able to play it online, aka Battle Net?

If it was possible, how could it work?

Would GOG users join other players on Battle Net, or would we get our own separate GOG server?
I own Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction in CD form. I'd still buy both on GOG if released. There's rumor/talk of a Diablo 2 remake in the works. If so, perhaps Blizzard would be less resistant to a GOG release of the original? I'd need it with the LoD expansion, though.

Of course anything's possible, especially since we actually have a Blizzard game here, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. We do know Warcraft 1 and 2 are coming (and hopefully 2's expansion).
Don't hold your breath. Official Blizzard word, is: "There are no plans for that, at this time". Very cryptic and ambiguous, but Diablo 2 is 60% multiplayer... Blizzard wouldn't allow a mostly multiplayer game, be distributed elsewhere... Plus, they already removed the Disc DRM (SecuRom?).

MAYBE and since they didn't downright reject the possibility, if Diablo 1 and Warcraft1/2 which are sure to arrive at a later date here, sell exceptionally well, Blizzard will CONSIDER giving away more titles here.

Personally, Diablo 2 is my favorite game ever. It would be a gamer's life dream realized, if it comes to GOG. Not only for DRM removal, but for optional game update, as well... 1.09 had been my most favorite version ever (with exploits like dupe and cheap, broken, OP barbarian/assassin skills).

The only thing i didn't like, is Hellfire still missing. Even only for the sake of collecting and archiving, Blizzard are !@#$ for shafting that old, semi-forgotten gem; again. Especially since they copied lots of its features to incorporate in Diablo 2 and the latter, owes what it is, partly to Hellfire expansion!

"Diablo II is 60% multiplayer"?!? That's the most absurd bullshit I have ever read. I always, always, ALWAYS play Diablo II with off-line characters, and it's a hella lot of fun without the crappy interaction with idiots, speedrunners and cheaters.

Now I understand why some of you people have negative reps: you say a lot of bullshit and not just "unpopular" opinion, am I right?!? :-D

1. There is specific gameplay content, such as certain runewords, that can be performed online only. You can't have those in Single player.

2. Same goes with item hunting. You can't reach in single player, the magic find total bonus, that organized item-hunters do, in teams, online.

3. And the multiplayer only events, such as that special Diablo that drops uniques, exclusives to it, even (the endgame charms, etc).

You didn't get your last point on spot, either. I don't know about others, but i have "dedicated, die-hard fans". They screenshot my posts, favorite to bookmark them and log in together to downvote, daily. Even regular posts of mine on games and gameplay, were downvoted; hell, they even downrepped past giveaways of mine!

Diablo is 60% multiplayer. As i said, certain content, is Battle.net locked and you cannot experience it, unless you go online, even Ladder is required, in some cases, too! Unless some mods add said content in single player, of course.

Diablo 2 can be purchased from Blizzard's store. They have no reason to give up 20%-30% of their profits just to sell it through GOG.
they sell diablo 2 one battle.net so no, i would hope for warcraft orcs vs humans tho

Diablo is 60% multiplayer.
Ok, but 60% is exaggerated... compared to all the game, that's something like 10%.
It affects mostly the endgame, like level80+, after you've probably already completed the hard mode anyway.

Diablo 2 can be played in single player and doesn't need Battle.net or internet connection to play it. Saying the game is 60% multiplayer is a bit absurd.

this is true and as usual, bradley is off his meds. :P

D2 is my favorite game EVER and I have never once played MP, nor have I ever felt the need to.
Once you download and install it from battle.net you never need log on again to play it.

The only thing I feel that suffers from SP, is the Paladin. He really is oriented to helping a party.
The Necromancer on the other hand: YOU GET TO MAKE YOUR OWN PARTY! :D

Blizzard don't have the rights to Hellfire. Sierra has that, and overall, Blizzard was disappointed with the quality, partially due to their own hamstringing of the project. They put a TON of restrictions on Sierra, kept moving the goalposts for quality while changing the due date to be shorter and shorter. Blizzard was of the opinion that no one could do Diablo as well as they could and they made sure Hellfire proved that by sandbagging the project out the gates,

Zookeeper builds got terribly nerfed IIRC. I used to love the zookeeper.

I keep it simple.
Three or four maxed out skeletons and a Necromancer that can handle himself in a melee fight.

More than that and areas like the worm tunnels become too hard to navigate.

Hahah. 3 Maxed skeleton, two mages and a blood Golem while spamming Bone Spear and bone wall to corral and obliterate the enemies. Meleemancers are not my thing.
just to let you know you can buy diablo 2 from bnet shop, its drm free aswell all u need is what ane mail to create a bnet account then buy it simple, you dnt need a luancher or anything, so for old blizzard games its basically like GOG just make an account and buy the games. the only games they dnt sell are diablo 1 which is here now and warcraft 1 and 2 which they said will be coming here in the future
