haydenaurion: I have the opposite problem running Quakespasm where I can get the music running fine for the mission packs, but not the original base game.
Of course, you could also try the Dark Places source port. Worked great for me for the base game and the 2 mission packs.

I hate to be an asshole here but I for one hate music with my FPS titles. XD Here I am sneaking around this place, being hunted by these humanoid monsters, and there is a soundtrack? :P Sorry but I'll pass. :D

Quake's soundtrack was made by fucking Nine Inch Nails. Also it's rather ambience than music. I'm pretty sure you wanna play the game with the music. :P

Such a fact. Quake has one of the best FPS soundtracks ever (right behind Doom 2).
