I never liked RPG games and the most RPG like game I ever played and enjoy is Battle for Wesnoth. Recently I started a single player campaign (Lotl) with heavy RPG elements and I'm kinda enjoying.
A few days ago I had a friends new pc to built, using his games hard drive, I notice he had Diablo installed. I ask him if I could try it. Crap, after 5 minutes I was bored and quit the game. Tried torchlite2 afterwards and played for 3 to 4 hours. Pretty much the same game with modern visuals.

Neither the less, I´m ready to give some RPG game a try. I only buy cheap games and don´t care much about graphics but cant be boring. Keep in mind I will only buy 1 game to try, have a very rigid plafond to spend in games.
I prefer mouse only games but have no problem playing with controller or keyboard.

What do you guys (and gals) think? Should give Diablo a serious try? Any other RPG you recomend? I believe will be playing single player only if it matters.
I've watched the trailer. Looks like BfW has a strong strategy element in it. If you want something similar, I would recommend not pure RPG, but RPG-strategy hybrid - King's Bounty, Heroes of Might and Magic.

Also, trailer itself mentions Fire Emblem and Advance Wars - you can also try those.

Btw, what is "Lotl"? I haven't found it in campaighns list.

Nah. It can indeed be pretty boring. Especially the first one.

Diablo isn't really a standard rpg, it's an action rpg at best...many fans of "real" rpgs can't stand it.
Bit hard to answer your question, it's not really clear what you're looking for in a game.

Surprise me please :D

I guess I want to try a new genre. I play some sports, platformers and strategy games and gets repetitive after a while.

I have Heroes of might and magic 3, want to play but still didn´t.
Lotl stands for "Legends of the Invincibles" and is one of the biggest single player campaigns on Wesnoth.

I think you should say what you would expect from the game. Diablo is more action oriented genre called hack'n slash, which for some people isn't RPG.
RPGs are a wide subject (and a delicate one to touch, due to everyone having their own definition of what is an RPG and why). ;)

As mentioned above, Diablo and Torchlight are often described as ARPGs or Hack-and-Slash games, a subdivision of RPGs but not representative for the whole genre. If you get bored by just clicking on hordes of enemies in order to fight them, collecting loot and mostly ignoring the bare bones story, then ARPGs are probably not for you and you should try different subgenres.

For example:

JRPGs (often linear story, anime style, turn-based combat: Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger)
Open World RPGs (often real-time action, 1st or 3rd p. perspective: Gothic/Risen, Oblivion/Skyrim, Witcher 3, Divinity 2)
Classic / Western RPGs with a focus on story-telling (either real-time with pause or possibility to switch between real-time and turn-based: Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, Fallout, Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, Pillars of Eternity, or Tactical Turn-Based RPGs: Shadowrun, Divinity: Original Sin)
Grid-based Dungeon Crawlers (either real-time: Eye of the Beholder, Legend of Grimrock, or Turn-Based: Might & Magic)
etc.

Why try to force yourself to play RPGs if you clearly don't like them and there are many other good games out there? But I would suggest any of the Fallout games - 1 and 2 are old skool and 3 is more modern with first person perspective.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

It's wonderful! Victorian Steampunk setting, string quartet soundtrack, choose to be more techy or more magicky, delightful dialogue, the turn-based combat is fun (the real-time is shit), crafting tech devices is fun, the companions are entertaining... Oh, and best character creation system ever.

Enjoy!

If story focused gameplay is fine then Planescape: Torment is good as it has tone of plot dialog and interesting environments/music/characters.

For action RPGs Titan Quest is pretty good(and has a new DLC out for a bit extra) and has many hours of gameplay for those who are more action focused......also Diablo is classic/good as well in this RPG subgenre(Although the still missing D2 is a bit better).

For good action/story Beyond Divinity/Divine Divinity are good classic RPGs(beyond has a very funny set of MCs with some funny dialog and good moments).

Those are some good(imo) recommendations, but there are likely more that others can add.
I would try some RPG-ish hybrid to ease you into it. Depending on how much RPGs bore you, more action than RPG.

The WItcher 3 is fantastic, so are Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. KotoR 1 and 2 are more standard but streamlined RPGs than The Witcher 3 which is far more action-oriented.

The summer sale is here soon so you should be able to get whichever of these games you want for cheap.

Btw, since you have limited funds, you could also search for freebies and demos, before you buy something you might not want to play. Maybe find out what you actually like first.

For example, many of the Spiderweb games (Geneforge, Avadon, Avernum) have demos on their websites.

Eschalon Book 1 is free on GOG.

Dex (platformer/RPG crossover), or
Mutant Year Zero (tactical/RPG crossover) have demos on GOG.

The Community Giveaway - GOG Edition thread might still have a copy of The Witcher Enhanced Edition to spare, if you qualify for it.

Dungeon Master - Return to Chaos (amateur remake of the original grid-based Dungeon Crawler) is free.

etc, etc.

If you preferred Wesnoth, maybe you actually prefer SRPG? If so, I recommend Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark, Regalia, or Agarest games, in decreasing order of preference, off the top of my head so I probably forgot something.

Edit: I guess you're trying to get away from strategy. Don't know why Diablo bored you, so I can't recommend anything other than the usual RPGs (Fallout 1 & 2 and Arcanum, but maybe those will bore you as well).

Diablo is not really an RPG from my point of view but the founder of a new genre. Anyway games with heavy RPG that I can recommend.
Fell Seal Arbiter's Mark
Morrowind
Low Magic Age
Baldur's Gate
Realms of Arkadia Sword of Destiny (I would recommend here HD Remaster because better Tutorial but this is sadly instead of original digital only on Steam.)
The Witcher 1 was a gentle entry point into RPGs for me.
I don't care for Diablo style games either, but I enjoy RPGs. With the little instruction we have to go on, I'd suggest...

1) Dragon Age Origins. It's relatively simple, turn-based, party-centric, and can be played third person or isometric. IMHO the story is pretty generic, but many love it... and I've rarely heard a person absolutely hate the game.

2) Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. IMHO the best (and most flawed) RPG ever made. Superb action combat with climbing mechanics a la Shadow of the Colossus and one of the best magic system presentations ever, party-centric with a fair amount of management, interesting but very modest story.

3) Mount & Blade Warband. Party-centric wih high level of management, old school RPG melded with real-time action combat elements. There be no dragons here! I'd suggest this game for the mod community alone -- immense.

I'd feel pretty safe suggesting either or all of those 3 to someone just looking about.

I'd suggest Gothic, Risen, and Elex... but probably not to someone trying to figure out if they enjoyed action-oriented RPGs. Definitely Kingdom Come Deliverance, but probably not first. I'd suggest Pathfinder Kingmaker, but to the same end for different reasons. Maybe the Divinity games? Although the tone kills the experience for me. Heck, even Legends of Eisenwald, but down the road.
