The raw and the cooked.

Cook, Serve Delicious! and Cook, Serve Delicious! 2!! are now available, DRM-free at GOG.com.
Get the first game 75% off and the sequel 40% off until January 23, 2PM UTC. Buy them together for an additional 20% series discount (this will remain in effect beyond Jan. 23).

"Come on, Jake, I said medium rare, not ready to jump off the plate and do a little dance!"
"Alice! This needs more salt! More… More... A little more. Too salty! Throw it away and make me a new one!"
"Kevin, cigarette break was over 3 minutes ago, buddy! Table 4 is about to start nibbling on the cutlery!"

Harsh. But running a restaurant is serious business. If you can't take the pressure, the kitchen can turn into a proper nightmare, but if you conquer its challenges, the world will be your oyster. In the hardcore simulators Cook, Serve, Delicious! you begin as the owner of a crumbling eatery, and gradually step up your cooking, managing, and showmanship skills to become the talk (or treat) of the town.
Once you get tired of amassing Platinum Stars, try the campaign in co-op, go for the Tag Team local multiplayer mode and the Strike Challenges, or just fire up Zen mode for some tasty relaxation.
Don't forget to also grab both games' OSTs for your collection.
These are good games, but not my cup of tea, sorry. I am getting to old, and my fingers are slower and slower. These days I also play to unwind, not to get stressed. But for those who like fast and hectic gameplay CSD are really good.

Crosmando: I honestly can't think of a more boring concept for a video game.
???

The game is not really boring, the thing is this type of game (cooking) 'belongs' to the casualgames eventhough they will never admit it, it does belong to casualgames.

Check all cooking games, the game is heavilly inspired by all the cooking games and improved the genre 500% (if that would be possible) so the dev did a very good job on the game, items look realistic, the casual cooking games look too cartoony cause they were made for younger gamers.
So hats of to the dev(s) who developed this game.

Normal min. requirements, 99% of all real casualgames needs a min. sytem like this ( thats why i own > 1200 now)
this game has low requirements:

Minimum system requirements - Windows: 7 / 8.1 / 10
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 128MB Graphics card or greater
Storage: 150 MB available space
Mouse & keyboard

Why is it quite hot ?
The graphics look better then the average cooking dash and similar cooking games, i own >1200 casualgames lots of retail and lots of them digital only ( why? because 5 years ago , maybe even longer games started to get crappy, far too many releases of fps/ fpp/shooters 3d , racing simulator etc etc etc, and more bad games kept on coming by the hundreds, i am a classic gamer ( i do not like the old pixel games that had 2 to 8 colors cause these are bad)
I own many good games like KQ, and many old dos games here at GOG, also love the real good games: baldurs gate, commandos, fallout (only 2d classics never ever 3d or fpp / remakes).

I want to game and play new games , thats why i started buying casualgames and i have seen hundreds of games/demos and videos.

Visit steam and check the ratings of this game and the first one, any game with good ratings and probably also good sales would be dumb not to take this/these games and publish them here at GOG, cause life is very expensive we all have to eat and drink and pay our bills so thats why these games will keep arriving at steam, at GOG, maybe at GG(gamersgate) and dozens of other place where you can buy games.

Anyway, thats why many games that are maybe as good or even better might / will never arrive here, nothing to do about that, games must sell and games that might be a risk getting here and won't get enough sales is too big a risk to take.

Marioface5: I just tried using a controller briefly for you, and I have to say it's just not working out for me. I'm sure there are people out there who prefer the gamepad controls, and you could probably get used to it if you really wanted to, but I find that the keyboard and mouse are easier to keep sorted in my mind.
Missed this one the first time around. So I tried the controller last night and it did "feel" good but like you said I was spending a lot of time glancing at the proper thumbstick flick. I could see that getting a hectic. I think your post is enough to get me to give K&M a shot and maybe bounce back and forth between the two methods until I sort out the one that works best for me.

Fun game by the way. A bit stressful but in a good way and I really did find myself "getting lost in the groove" when I really hit my stride tossing up orders.

Have you ever spent time in a restaurant? You really nailed the feeling of working on the line.
Local co-op? Interesting.. how does that work? Me and my buddy tried Overcooked a while ago, and while it was great fun, it was too demanding for two people :P
high rated

vg_chubigans: Hope y'all enjoy the game! :D

Experiment513: Thank you for bringing them here. Bought to support you! And of course I hope you have time to keep all versions up-to-date in the end. As a developer I know that can be hard.:)

And of course a big thank you for being here, answering our questions!! :D
I definitely will!

PaterAlf: Not sure how well they run on modern systems, but could you maybe add the freeware "prequels" Ore No Ryomi 1 & 2 as bonus goodies? I think it's pretty interesting to see how your games evolved over the years.
Unfortunately I loaded both of those with a ton of copyrighted music back when I was releasing games for free and didn't know much about copyright law, haha. So there's no good way to distribute those in a "legal" sense.

I'm not sure if this question was meant for me but I'll answer! I actually was a barista for several years, and a lot of the "rush hour" mechanics stemmed from that feeling I'd get during the morning rush.

Just seeing if the weird bug with your reply quote is still present when it's quoted within another quote. (Quote!)
EDIT: Nope. That's weird.

I totally expected that to be the case.
The game feels just like a professional hectic kitchen minus the constant terror of the co-workers and higher ups who make the army look like child's play.

The concept doesn't sound like fun but it was so well executed that it managed to be fun, I'm still amazed how that was possible.

Klumpen0815: I think it's really shitty of the devs to not update the Humble Bundle version.
The last update over there is from 06/28/2014 and they added the Battle Kitchen a few months later...
avatar
vg_chubigans: I plan on updating the Humble Bundle by the end of the month. If it wasn't for the GOG release I don't think I would have planned to have updated CSD 1's DRM free version at all so my main priority was to get that version and the GOG achievements/leaderboards put in first.
Thanks for the reply, that made me hopeful.
It would be grand if you would update the other DRM-free build(s) since there are a lot of indie gaming Linux users here who deeply care about DRM-free and dislike Steam just as much as piracy.

Awesome news. Already owned these on Steam but I re-purchased to support the DRM-free releases, particularly CSD2. It's a bummer the soundtracks don't come included, but both games have great music that I often listen to while cooking IRL :D

It's disappointing to see the posts dismissing these games based on incorrect assumptions or bitterness about other games not appearing on GOG. Cook, Serve, Delicious! 1 and 2!! absolutely deserve to be on here and are worth more than just a quick look. But just in case you're still on the fence, check out the Giant Bomb Quick Looks on YouTube to see the game play.

I bought both of them because I've already "finished" CSD1 (14 days into New Game+) and already have 4 stars, level 42 on CSD2. But if you're new, definitely start with the first game. It's more focused and has a clearer progression. Then move onto the second, which has many mechanical and quality-of-life improvements, and a sublime art style that will make you hungry while playing. As others have said, the career mode is not as clearly focused, but allows much more flexibility with menu planning and the amount of prep/holding stations. And both games are fun, stressful, and relaxing all at the same time.

Here's hoping we see a mobile version of CSD2!

P.S. The store page for CSD2 says cloud saves are supported, but I don't see it on my GOG Galaxy page and there isn't a desktop notification for cloud saves. Additionally the save file page in-game doesn't list "Cloud Saves" among the options like the Steam version. What's up with that?

Also the GOG version isn't popping some achievements like the one for the Ryan Davis burger or the "When It's Ready" email.

How many games do you own here on GOG then? And on Steam? :)

Well you could strip or change the music of course. ;-) GOG recently released Mafia with this note:

NOTE: This rerelease of Mafia has an edited soundtrack and does not include any licensed music.

HeartsAndRainbows: I can: Painting the floor.

Having a good concept is good, but in the end it's about how well the concept was executed. ;)
Then both of you obviously have never heard of the game Watch Paint Dry. Yes, this actually exists. :-)

I guess that would be too much work for two old freeware games that might not even run properly on many modern machines.

well i could give you the exact number of games but.... you can't be carefull enough online so i never give the exact number of games (digital) i own.

Steam is > 300 ( its much more but far less then 1.000 and even 500 ....
it got out of control, never meant to get too many at steam cause i do not like drm (i hate drm) and i hate clients to run a game, so i wait for the steam sales (not the weeklong deals that start at monday cause that has too many shovelware) , if a game needs the dreaded steam to run then i will 'blacklist' that dev/ publisher on my personal list ( wordpad file)

Bigfishgames need the steam client to run any game that is published by them, ofcourse clients (steam) are a big no for me so if i see a good BF game then it has to be 4.99 (less is always better) or i wont buy the game.

Games by Artifex Mundi ( i think its a polish publisher) can run without steam :D so these are an instant buy at release.

Anyway, most of the games i bought were developed by Alawar and Artifex Mundi.

GG (gamers gate) 300 games ( maybe less)

Anyway i have far too many games : digital only and retail ( >900 games on dvd/cd so i do not have >900 cd or dvd that would be impossible to store, all games come with 1 game or 2 games (cdrom) or 3 to 8 on a dvd, still the amount is too much and the space is limited... :D cant store much more retail games.

Nice to see these here. Will definitely buy CSD again here. Looking forward to trying the second game.
