Brand of a pirate.

Escape from Monkey Island™ is now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
Married life is not easy, especially when you're a restless and -largely- clueless pirate legend like Guybrush Threepwood. Doesn't help if your wife is considered officially dead, either.
Complete your Monkey Island collection as you embark on a hilarious adventure to save the pirates' unsavory way of life from the curse of late capitalism. Demonic cameos, cutthroat puzzles, and a dash of time paradox await!

Catch up on the legendary series with 25% off Curse of Monkey Island and 66% off Secret of Monkey Island and LeChuck's Revenge. Or grab them all together with Escape from Monkey Island with Stan's permanent, additional 25% series discount.
Individual discounts last until June 21, 1pm UTC.
Nice one, gog!
With respect, "the lost chapter" would have to be Ron Gilbert's Money Island 3a, which will probably never see the light of day.
Nice one. I actually enjoyed this despite the clunky controls.
At last, the one I actually played as a kid (but lost my copy of on a vacation). Fans of the whole series tend to crap on it, but I appreciated it with no frame of reference. Wonder if that'll change now that I've played the earlier ones.

Just from looking at the screenshots, I've forgotten how much I legit loved the art direction in this game. The backgrounds seem to hold up very nicely, and while the character models are blocky - they're supposed to be cartoon characters anyway so it isn't too egregious.

I'm aware that the choice of fixed camera angles + tank controls is controversial, but I think it's a lot less offensive in a game with almost no action elements (unlike say Resident Evil) and comes with the payoff of making nearly every screen of the game look visually interesting in some way.

(This is my post defending Escape From Monkey Island. Thanks for reading.)

Leroux: Kind of a dud compared to the other Monkey Island games, or even compared to all the other LucasArts adventures, but still nice it's finally here.

JLH: While not as good as the first three *imo* it's still worthwhile with fun to be had for fans. I have it on ps2...with my old strategy guide. Watched my gal play through it about a year ago.
I have to admit I never played much further than the beginning. I can deal with the questionable controls and graphics, but the humor felt so derivative and rehashed and I didn't like all the fourth wall breaking jokes. It felt more like fan fiction to me. It's possible that a bad German translation was adding to that though, so I'm glad the game is available here now in several languages including the original. If it gets a good discount one day, I'll probably buy it despite my bias and give it another try.

Does anyone know if the GOG version works plug-and-play style with XBox360 controllers?

Not for the price you're asking. Maybe during the next sale.

muntdefems: PS: How come the trademark symbol is displayed correctly on the link to the game card? Has the bug been fixed? Or is this a prerogative of GOG staff only?
They used a character replacement code. But they obviously used the one that the forum software auto-converts to the actual character if you quote or edit the post, which is why your quote of it is broken. If you use "& trade ;" (without the spaces or quotation marks), it will work even after subsequent edits.
E.g.: Escape from Monkey Island™

EDIT: Shit, forgot the semicolon.

At last all monkeys have gathered.
Time for me to (re-)play the adventure from the beginning.

GOG you made an old, adventurous pointer-'n-clicker happy again.
Nice release! This is the fourth best Monkey Island game, and the very last LucasArts adventure game.

Sadly, EMI did not. ;)
The Monkey Island equivalent of Star Wars: Episode 1.

You also forgot to put the trademark character inside a URL tag, which is the cause of the problem. :P

This is all a long-standing consequence of the "fix" they implemented to substitute the even stupider solution of not allowing any post with the string "+ninety-one", in order to combat spam. It affects special characters, but also other BBcode tags: e.g. if you put bold or italic tags inside a URL tag you'll get those beautiful HTML <]span> tags for free.

PS: WTF?!? This post didn't go through until I spelled out the number ninety-one. I thought that restriction had been removed?

I never played this part, but read some reviews about it.
I'm open for my own experience.
This has officially completed my classic PC game collection! Thanks GOG!
Thank you GOG for bringing Escape from Monkey Island back!!! I played the demo as a kid, now for the first time I can check out the full game. Without you this great series would be dead, but you brought these classics back, awesome!
