Overlord II is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, 75% off until July 23th, 1pm UTC. Grab the original Overlord at 75% off, as well.
Ahh, it's good to be back! But that's the only "good" you'll be doing in this game. The rest mostly amounts to murdering, plundering, terrorizing, seducing, and demolishing. Conquer every human village or raze it to the ground with your well-trained, crafty Minions and then use your demonic charms to go after the black hearts of the three alluring mistresses. Who said romance is dead?

shmerl: GOG should publish checksums on the downloads page. Humble Bundle does that.
That would be the minimum information of a decent service. And we still miss that.
Why not also add the date every file has been added so that we can finally filter for that information?

It does work, actually. The problem is that the post I linked fails to mention that you should open the development console (Ctrl+Shift+I in Firefox, dunno how in other browsers) before clicking the download link. The full link with the relevant info should then appear in the console alongside a GET command.

The method has been explained several times in this forum, but the "open the development console" step is usually omitted. I thought in that thread the explanation was complete but it obviously wasn't the case. My bad, sorry. :(

The dev console didn't really help but letting Firefox handle the download itself instead of handing it to the DownThemAll download manager plugin gave me the link you mentioned.

I could get the .xml and find out that md5 should be ca71da88df3889f92148efbbb4693e18 but I have now downloaded the file 4 times in total (with the download manager and without) and it always has an md5 of be7233726577722b2372a7ea216381a8. That's not a coincidence or random corruption during transfer. Looks like GOG needs to fix that on their end.

According to the overlord forum I'm not the only one with the problem.

muntdefems: I guess you're referring to what Redfern said earlier. If on the other hand what you mean is that my wording makes it sound like it's GOG's and/or Codemasters' fault only, then that's because I didn't know it was a VP job back then. :P
Well, i can say only that i got myself from VP - i asked them about GOG and they answered that this is not their area of authority - it all up to distributor. I wrote after that mail to Codemasters and received polite but clear answer that they "dont have such plans currently and cant promise anything in future".

Yep, that definitely looks like a GOG cock-up, then. Now that you mention it, I remember having the same problem with a couple of Linux installers, probably shortly after they were introduced in order to replace the beloved old tarballs (snif...). They had to re-upload them with the correct MD5 hashes so the integrity check steps wouldn't fail and the installation could go on as intended.

No your not, failed twice with chunk errors on GOG downloader and failed install with file error when downloaded via browser.

Will probably buy just to be free of Steam.
A good game but not as good as the first one. Still would definitely recommend to everyone. Fun times to be had indeed.

Don't speak about that which should not be named. That travesty of a game should have been released on mobiles and not just kill this otherwise great franchise.

muntdefems: But Aspyr does have a few Linux games on GOG... Well, the ones developed by Bloober Team to be precise. But this kinda proves that macOS and Linux versions being ported by a third party are not an automatic deal-breaker for being released on GOG.
afaik with those games you mentioned, Aspyr only acts as publisher, they didn't develop the linux port.
well, at least Aspyr is not listed as developer, in contrast to all their other projects.

If I'd have know this was coming out on GOG I wouldn't have picked it up on Steam last month. Too late to refund it now I guess even though I've only played it for 20 minutes to check it works.
