ChrisGamer300: Bah this is shovelware horseshit and apparently not the only one that got past curation this week.
This game is not my cup of tea at all, but I would definitely not call it showelware. it looks original and well made, the graphics are quite good and I actually found the trailer funny, but I will never ever buy it or play it.

What makes it showelware? Or is this become another of those cool hipster terms that have no meaning anymore - apart from "I don't like it"

I can't speak for how others use the term " Shovelware" but in my case it's close to the truth, it's also right that this is not real shovelware like you see on steam selling for a few euros/dollars but for me this looks very boring and shoveware is pretty much the worst thing you can call a game imo so i used it out of frustration.

As it turns out, some people really don't like it when you call something shovelware that's not using premade assets or shipped out in an unplayable state.

I think it is because "shovelware" has a basic definition, i.e. games made on a template and the just "shovelled" out one after each other, with focus on quantity over quality.

the term itself comes from the 80's, when you had the compilations cd 's with 100 games on one cd, with very little difference between them, again, just generic, non-creative and unoriginal games shovelled onto a cd to fill up the numbers.

So "shovelware" refers to generic, non-creative, un-original template games. This, I think, is far from it.

The reason for this post, is that most people have the same framework for concepts we use, we can not suddenly say - "thats what it mean to me!" - it just leads to misunderstanding and very muddled and imprecise conversations. I can not say " I don't like this game, it is to Dickensian" - it makes just no sense.

I would personally reserve judgement on calling it shovelware. I use that term for games that are low effort buggy asset flips.

I do, however, wonder who this game is made for. Neither typing, not bullet hell games are my cup of tea so this isn't something I would ever purchase. But the mix of the two genres just seems completely incompatible, to the point of being frustrating to play. It seems like a game made for a very niche audience. Or a game that was deliberately concocted to be obtuse. Like the developer got high and had an epiphany that seemed really good when he was high and decided to follow through on it.

I'm sure there are people out there that will love this game. So I'm not against the sale of it here. But based on how niche this would obviously be I do wonder how it squeaked by the curation, given the fact that how "niche" a game seems is a frequent reason for rejection.
This is definitely a game that I would like to play, also because I would finally make good use of my Latin studies ahah!

If the developer wanted to add achievements it would be even better.
I tried the demo... this game is way above my ability! XD

I said it before but yes if we are going by the exact definition of shovelware then this is not it and i admit i flew of the handle a bit there. I'm not against the sale of the game on GOG because that is up to the community to decide whether they want to play it or not but it's absolutely infuriating to see how GOG decides which game is "niche" or not because there's absolutely no consistency in the curation and that's been going on for years.

2019 alone so far has had a bunch of screw ups already. In the end GOG decides and that's how it is.

Yeah I missed that you had an exchange about that already before I posted. Sorry.

I do agree that the release of this game kind of highlights the inconsistency of their curation policies in very real terms though. I can't think of a more niche title than this that I've ever seen.
Hi guys (gog team),

I just played demo and it’s awesome!
Can you add achievements?

I would like to buy (yes!), but lack of achievements similar to competition offer is the only thing that supports my hesitation.

Cheers!
