well bethesda will release a new enchanced edition of skyrim ... again.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition

"Skyrim Anniversary Edition is the game's "most definitive version". It includes the base game, and all three expansions. But the big news this time is the inclusion of 500 pieces of Creation Club (mods) content."

i would prefer to finally see the release of tes 6 instead of looking at how bethesda is trying to live from the dead. looks like they are losing it more and more like gog. i wonder if bethesda is interested at all about releasing tes 6 and if, then as a singleplayer focused game, not some online crap. what are your thoughts on this?
In a nutshell:

https://hard-drive.net/feel-old-yet-skyrim-was-released-9-years-ago-7-years-ago-4-years-ago-3-years-ago-and-2-years-ago/

Hopefully this will also mean a GOG release too.
Bethesda will keep re-releasing Skyrim for as long as people buy it. Same with Grand Theft Auto V. You should vote with your wallet, if you don't want them to keep releasing the same game, stop giving them money.
Bethesda will milk it until it's a brittle-boned, leathery husk. Not surprising in the least, but all the more ridiculous.

um ... well actually Grargar's post refers to an article about severel releases of skyrim (i kinda missed some of them, didn't know there were so many). so bethesda is already passed the point of realSkyrim. although still there is so much potential, just think about skyrim raytraced edition :)

Hence the words 'even more' in my post above. ;)

Raytraced, with a ton of extra post processing effects, and with hyper-realistic faces. ;D

Todd 'ItJustWerx' Howard is probably creaming himself over all the money he'll make from gulli....awesome loyal fans right now

(Sidenote: I wonder if any of the mod creators will get a cut of the profits....seeing as their work is being included in the new version and all)

I don't have a problem with this. When I heard rumors they were planning a second re-release, I was annoyed but when I heard what it is, it's fine by me. Frankly, I've been meaning to grab a bunch of the Creation Club content but I always hated how I basically had to buy Steam wallet credit (which I do via the gift cards in retail stores), then buy CC credits, then buy whatever I wanted within the game itself. The fact that we're getting a couple of them for free regardless, along with the fact that this includes all existing CC content, it's something I do actually plan to grab unless the upgrade is too expensive.

People make the jokes about Bethesda re-releasing Skyrim but in actuality, they only re-released it once and ported it once. It only makes sense that they'd do this since TES6 is still probably ~4 years off at best and ESO already got its next-gen upgrade.
Perfect opportunity to ask them about GoG release.
I know there is little to none chance that will ever happen, but one can still dream:)

Anyone else remember when such content was called mods, and creators mainly made it for free and gamers weren't too lazy to install it themselves?

Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I would ask yourselves how they will distribute the creation club content, it would likely be some sort of key to download from creation club itself, so supporting closed environment modding scene.
I can only pretend to be excited, especially since this is a filthy version that just has bloatware preinstalled.

Mods are still a thing. I don't understand the hate for Creation Club, it benefits literally everyone. You can still download completely free mods (which VASTLY outnumber the amount of CC content) but if there's a piece of cool content on CC, you can pay a little bit to support modders and these games -- which need things to help pad out the lifespan due to how long the development cycle is -- receive new content indefinitely. Do I think CC has lived up to its full potential? Definitely not, but the concept is not bad. It's absolutely way better than the ridiculous paid mods idea.

Yes, mods. You can still some on moddb for instance. Fans making extra content for the community, or fixing things, of their own back to help or improve everyone’s play. Some had mechanisms for donating to help them. Then Bethesda realised and steam realised that this was a massive unexploited market. Steam took the lead by tying mods into its own steam workshop, leaving those not in the monopoly out in the cold, to look at the empty pages where modders had been forced to remove their mods for fear of them being sold in steam workshop. Bethesda soon followed suit, tying it all into their servers, further reducing the outside worlds access to these mods. The future of elder scrolls becoming more enclosed and monopolised, with the future plans being online only games, with only mods which even the creator has no control.

That aside, thankfully a lot of modding outside Bethesda still happens and is going strong. I expect ES6 will come out at some point, bland, half filled, with a short story, and the modding scene will fire up to fill it up. How much of that will be open is anyone’s guess though.
