This game looks to have the kind of creative insanity that's so lacking in games these days. Reminds me of World of Xeen in a number of ways. Not releasing this at all would be a travesty.

ChaunceyK: 17 years on Grimoire...isn't that about how long Axl Rose took to release Chinese Democracy? And even then, only because Dr. Pepper essentially triple-dog-dared him to release it? Maybe we could get Mello Yello to personally insult Cleve so we can finally get a finished product. ;-) But seriously Cleve, have you considered that maybe you're just a perfectionist like Axl? That the biggest reason its taking you so long to release this game is because you keep thinking "I can make it better"?
That is not going on any more. Believe me, I would not have even considered the campaign if I was not so close I was eliminating the last couple of issues in BugZilla. Unlike a lot of people who begin Kickstarter campaigns I wanted to be certain I was on the verge of completion before I even put a pitch video together.

Grimoire will come out in May 2013 and you can expect in future you will see more of the same from me, plenty of demonstrable gameplay and all the major problems solved before I start a campaign. I would not feel good about it any other way. You will never see a pitch from me consisting of "Hi, I'm Cleve Blakemore and I'd like to make a game. Here is a sketch on a table napkin of what the game will look like." Never.

I have raised the bar for crowdfunding and in future you can expect if somebody wants to get funded they will have to present some decent gameplay or at least an alpha/beta version before people will contribute. That's the way crowdfunding should really work.

Good luck. I mean it.

I'm pretty sure your game is good and I'm willing to believe you are being honest here. I'm just having some doubts if, despite all the best intentions, you are able to pull it through. I've known perfectionists before (I'm married to one, for starters) and the problem always seems to be the "letting go" part. I have doubts you're going to meet the deadline and I'm afraid there's going to be a shitstorm if that happens. I know there game doesn't have much left to do, but what about those extra goodies you've promised? Are you doing those by yourself? The game seems large and compiling the guide alone has to be a lot of work.

Currently I'm thinking I'm going to wait and see. If you keep posting updates, maybe make a demo and give a preview copy to some review site or some other third party one can trust , I'm in with $100. If not, I'll buy the game once/if it's released.

Best of luck to you, Cleve.

Would you say that your game incorporates elements of ancient history/mythology such as those discussed in the Enkidu vs Gilgamesh thread on the Codex?

First time I actually look at your game, looking real interesting. You make a good pitch.

My finger that I use to click on the mouse to back games is twitching...
Grimoire has an improved resolution: http://www.indiegogo.com/grimoireforever?c=activity

Regular updates on the project gives me hope.
Always bet on Cleve.
Huh. So, someone made an interview with the guy who did Grimoire's engine, and this is what he had to say about Cleve:

Has there ever been anything that Cleve has written or said that has upset you enough to say something to him about it?

I tend to keep out of the reading & writing about Cleve. Because so much of what *he* says seems like fantasy to me (i.e. not the Cleve I know), I tend to ignore everything written in response.

If there was one thing about Cleve that you think people would be surprised to know about him, what would it be?

Hard one!
Possibly that he is a really fun and humorous guy? He doesn't come across the sort of guy that people conflict with at all. At least this is from memory, and a long time ago...

Also, apparently he is also married...

The Codex has done an interview with the man himself, if anyone's interested:

WTF? Is this Clive Internet persona an act? I'm so confused.

Also: those new screenies are candy.
This thread is now about Massive Incline

So, Cleve has reached about $6000 for now, yet he was boasting that he will get $750.000 in 30 days. 10 days to get over $740k? Where is my crow?

Not to mention that "You naysayers will be eating crow and substantial amounts of it, first when I cruise through 250G like it wasn't even there and then when I release the game on May 1st." doesn't seem like "cruise through 250k".

I want my crow, damnit! And with mustard, please.
