SirPrimalform: The Desura example isn't relevant because these games are never going to be updated by the publisher.
avatar
RWarehall: How is it not relevant?
I feel like I explained this in the post above, however some of the elaboration was done in a quick edit so I'll assume you only saw the original version. Here:
The Desura example isn't relevant because these games are never going to be updated by the publisher. The Desura situation was with games that were being updated on Steam not being updated on Desura, which is a feeling most GOGgers are probably familar with. These Atlantis games are never going to be updated anywhere by their publisher.

RWarehall: As it stands, there is no telling if those games work on Win 10, and the fifth title probably doesn't even work on Win 8. Microsoft has already ended mainstream support for Win 7 and Win 8.1. And will end extended support for Win 7 in about a year and a half and Win 8.1 at the beginning of 2023.
There are plenty of games I can buy on disc on Amazon right now that don't mention Windows 10 or even 8 on the box, that's normal. Publishers don't update the recommended system specs as time goes on.

avatar
RWarehall: Personally, I'm glad someone wants to look into who could bring the other games here.
I would love them to come here, I just don't think it's worth holding out. Specifically I thought it was weird for liquidsnakehpks to continue to act as if the games are completely unavailable DRM-free.
avatar
SirPrimalform: snip
But for one of them to specifically omit Win 8 in the system specs while mentioned in the other, probably means it DOES NOT work reliably in Win 8 or 10. Clicking on a few other old games on the site lists whether they are Win 10 compatible, so I would worry whether either game works with Win 10.

Also, I do not see liquidsnakehpks stating anything in any post about their availability elsewhere. And there is a big difference between games listing specs "on the box" bought from Ebay or Amazon vs specs listed in an online store...

The fact that FireFlower didn't bother to update the specs even with Win 10 released for 3 years, says something.

Anyway, I don't see your point in arguing over this. LiquidSnake asked for help finding the IP owner. Presumably because it would be nice to see the rest of the series here and set up to run on modern systems. Insisting people should just buy some old legacy version off an obscure site isn't very helpful.

I imagine the rights lie somewhere between Anuman and Nordic as Nordic seemed to buy all the Adventure Company assets in 2011, the developer of the last 2 games. Whether Anuman holds some of the trademarks or distribution rights still is a question.

It's a valid concern, but all it really means is that no one has tested it. You may be unwilling to take that chance and that's fair enough.

This entire conversation is you replying to a post I made that was addressed to liquidsnakehpks. If you look at the post I was replying to, they say "sigh i guess we have to go down the path of just lets play to remember the game." as if the game is completely unavailable. I replied pointing out the earlier post saying they were on FireFlower games, you replied to that and here we are.

Not really, that sort of thing comes from the publisher on most stores and as we have established, the publisher has abandoned the game. GOG is somewhat unique in that they directly support the games they sell, thus the supported OS and things are a statement of what they support the game on and thus it gets updated. Absence of a particular OS on GOG is a lot more meaningful than it is on any other store, since it means GOG tried it and decided they couldn't support it.

I wasn't looking for an argument, I was simply pointing out to them that the games are available for purchase, so let's-plays are not the only option.

There's no such thing as an 'old legacy version' if there is no newer version available. The games are what they are, and that's what we'd get here if they came out here. The only difference would be GOG offering technical support (which I don't deny would be great). It's certainly not unhelpful to point out that they can be bought when the OP appears to be under the misapprehension that they cannot.

That does seem like a good lead.

WinGameStore added both games to their catalog in July 2015 and have Anuman Interactive, parent company to Microids, listed as the publisher. Other stores which still have it and added it in the last 3 years, list Microids. So it appears that is who currently owns the publishing rights as the addition took place well after the Adventure Company break-up in 2011.

This is the same publisher as the first 3 games, so I don't know why the series has not been completed except for the fact that none of the sites I found the game listed Win 10 compatibility. I imagine, that would be a pre-requisite these days, for any new GoG release.

http://www.microids.com/EN/contact

i have sent mail lets see if they reply , also the moment you select the game it downloads a walkthrough pdf for the game very nice

Microids is a subsidiary of Anuman Interactive which bought them at the beginning of 2010, so both would be correct.
2022 and we are still missing these games, thought i would give this a bump to see if anyone else remembers these games.

I did find a walkthrough of the game here i still think the graphics are great for the day

I've bought a few games from them in the past without any problems and I've not seen any negative feedback about them.

I played and completed Secrets of Atlantis and it was a decent adventure but I haven't played Evolution (seems to be rated as poor).

Nice wonder what's preventing gog from getting them here.
