Nothing is much known now when the film/movie based on video game, yet. In this year we will see Tomb Raider film/movie reboot based on video game Alicia Vikander will portray role of Lara Croft.Tom Holland(probably younger Nathan Drake)will portray role of Nathan Drake.
Tomb Raider(2018)trivias:
Tricia Brock, Kathryn Bigelow, Catherine Hardwicke and Mimi Leder were all taken into consideration when choosing a movie director.
Initially, the script was to be written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.
Daisy Ridley, Emilia Clarke, Saoirse Ronan and Cara Delevingne were taken into account when casting the role of Lara Croft.
(Spoilers alert)The film was filmed in Cape Town, Plettenberg Bay, Paarl (South Africa) and in London, Wilton and Leavesden (England, Great Britain).
The film was shot from January 23 to June 9, 2017.
Uncharted(2018)trivias:
In the initial phase of the production, the director was entrusted to David O. Russell, and Mark Wahlberg was to play the main role. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci were to partner with him. The studios, however, did not like the ideas of the story in the script prepared by Russell, which significantly deviated from the video game. So his services were abandoned, and the actors withdrew from it, and the project fell in this form.
When director David O. Russell lost his position, Neil Burger took his place, but eventually he withdrew from the project and took up the implementation of "Incompatibility." Another choice was Seth Gordon, but he left because of artistic differences.
The offer of Nathan Drake was given to Chris Pratt, but the actor rejected the offer. Nathan Fillion and Joe Flanigan were also interested in the role.To be honest Tomb Raider and Uncharted are similar to Indiana Jones.
Cool, movies based on video games always are the best.

I think I disagree with that statement. So far I think the Warcraft movie was decent...

Hahahaha... Mortal Kombat may be the only decent movie based on a game, and that wasn't even that good.

I wasn't being exactly serious :-)
First Resident evil movie also was watchable though iirc,
They can be fun - Doom, the first two Resident Evils, Max Payne had some good action scenes, I actually enjoyed Uwe Boll's Far Cry and the clips I've seen of the Postal movie.
Prince of Persia was ok.
Warcraft was good, Prince of Persia was watchable. Everything else was crap. The Tomb Raider movies were terrible, but at least Angelina Jolie was pretty much perfect as Lara. I'm not sure if anyone really cares about this new rebooted grim & gritty Lara and her movie version. I mean yeah, the "old" version was about as shallow as it gets, it was just all about an insanely hot chick dual-wielding pistols shooting things up. It didn't make for a good movie, but at least they got that right :P And a better, fun movie of that could be made. The new "survival" Lara feels like bland, panicked backpedal on that. What Tomb Raider needs is someone to take that classic sexy Lara and make a fun over the top action movie out of it like a mix of National Treasure and Kingsman. Not a gritty, "realistic" reboot like what sank the last Fantastick Four :P

But that's just my two cents and I was never a fan of the TR games anyway, so what do I know.

I read an article that Naughty Dog (Devs of Uncharted) are not looking forward to the movie. The were quoted as saying something along the lines that they already told Nathan Drake's story to the best of their ability, and they doubt some hollywood writer could do better. They actually wanted a different story for him, one that was not told in the videogames, and apparently got silenced by Sony on the matter.

I don't have a link handy, it was just a random article I found on Reddit. Probably on the Playstation subreddit.

Pssh. The only good video game movie was the one not based on an actual video game: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

I'm still waiting for anything tolerable based on a game, but I'm never going to get my hopes up.

If "not based on an actual game" counts, then TRON is pretty much the be all end all of video game movies.
"Okay so how many Marios are there between the two of you?"
"There's three. There's Mario Mario and Luigi Mario."
I had heard about the new Tomb Raider, in fact I've even seen the trailer, but Uncharted is a complete surprise. However, just hearing about Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in the main roles completely ruins my interest in the project. It sounds like just another cash grab.

WHAT?! Jolie couldn't hold a stick to (I hope I'm using expression right) most of Lara Croft live models not to mention Lara herself.

As for movies based on games, the best of them so far was Mortal Kombat. Resident Evil series (except Extinction) was also cool, though only the first movie was in horror genre. I also liked Postal and Double Dragon, though they are more like C-movies.
