I've only played Disciples 3 so far. What's better in Disciples 2 compared to Disciples 3 that you consider it the best of the series?

I think 1nsane is a bit more arcade like game, where Screamer 4x4 is a simulation. However 1nsane is really fun.

Ricky_Bobby: To fans of FIFA , Forza and what-not, who buy and play every release, there's enough new things in those games to warrant a purchase. From their perspective a new Dark Souls game might look exactly the same as the last one, and so on. I mean you do the exact same things in every Souls game, the only thing that varies is the look of the settings.

It depends on how embedded you are in a certain genre. To me all space sims look and play the same. Someone who plays a lot of these games would argue differently, that there's a significant difference between them.

I can assure you that people who mainly play racing games would be very quick to point out the differences.
In the same way a Dota player or Hearts Of Iron fan can recognize the differences in new versions of their games.

I disagree. I think most people who buy F1 are long-term fans of these games and this motorsport.
The people who quite are causal gamers who want the next pretty game that comes along.
They are people who buy games like Project Cars because it looks pretty, not because they like racing games.
It could also be a regional matter. F1 racing games are very popular in countries like the UK and Brazil.

fan3l: Depands a lot if you like the genre.
The sport sims cant be very varied because the rules of the sport they are simulating are the same all the time.
Some tryed to add some rpg elements (Soccer Superstar) or to add a little story (Real Madrid: The Game).
I am sure we will never see AAA sports here, but there are some others that can be added and still have fun.
But time will fix everything and some sports will come for the people who love dribble like Messi, shoot like LeBron or pass like T. Romo. :))

i know a movie: shaolin soccer, its ridiculous they beat and blast each other up in shaolin style while playing soccer on field, it is weird but very entertaining.

Thank you both! As the promo already has ended I'll probably add 1nsane to my wishlist. I only have to check if it runs under Linux/Wine to not get another not working game as I already have problems with Screamer.

This promo is like trying to play the field at the bar, and finding all of the inhabitants not improved by alcohol enhanced vision or judgement.

Disciples 2 have really long campaigning for many sides of conflict with different units and strategies (play style).

Position and unit type in party really matter, sometimes you can survive with some loss battle only because your enemy waste some time on first row (i.e. when he don't have any good ranged units and you use support unit).

It have really good models of units and interesting description, plus good balance (except Nosferatu in the end of campaign who can overpower even capital guardian :> ). For example in D3 some demons look like some bad jest compared to D2, simply take, a look on that video:

PS.
I finished, all games that create disciples series, but only Disciples 2 Gold remain on my disk, next to Heroes 3 with HOTA. Maybe D3 have better graphic and modern gui but it still lack many long interesting campaign, spells and items, game mechanic and optimization .

No problem, there's no hurry. I still haven't finished the Disciples 3 campaign, although I think I'm not far away from the end (haven't played it in a while). And thanks for your answer! It finally convinced me to give Disciples 2 a try. :)
