Wondering what people are using to listen to their games. Maybe brag a little if you have a sweet setup going on. ; )
For the easy connection with the laptop, I have a worn pair of Sennheiser HD590s, from around 2002. The headband cushion doesn't, the speaker foam covering is spotty, and the earcups are getting fairly worn. Still sound nice, though.
Up in the office, I'm cheating a bit. Hooked up the old audio setup with a Yamaha integrated amp, ancient CD player, tuner, and EQ, and use an RCA-headphone adapter cable to plug in the laptop so I can boom the games over a pair of Bose 901s. Currently have a problem with one channel but I haven't taken the time to find out where the signal is getting lost. Got a newer receiver I could use, but it doesn't play nice with external signal processors. Can't even hook up an old tape deck recording loop the way we used to, which was often how you slipped EQs and such into the audio path. Problem with the 901s is that they have their own crossover / pre-amp unit that has to go between the regular pre-amp and the amp, and the newer receiver doesn't have pre-amp outs.
If I can't get the other channel working correctly then I may have to switch over to the newer receiver and instead plug in the pair of B&W bookshelf speakers I bought many years back.
A couple times I've hooked the laptop up to the bigscreen TV, and used that to route the audio to the stereo in the house. For that one we have a pair of Mirage OM-9s and a Mirage sub, also from around 2002. Really love these old speakers.
Whatcha got?
