The clownery around GoG is ludicrous as all clownery is supposed to be.
This clown platform called GoG, the clown platform that claims will give you a free game if you register your credit card and purchase for a certain amount with said card....big fat lie.
The clown platform that doesnt allow you to download large files because it gives you a failed message every two gigabytes.
The clown platform that takes months before addressing your customer service requests.
Will GoG ever be more than a Ronald MacDonald of the game platforms?
Who is, or was, Ronald McDonald?

They certainly could improve on a lot of things here.

That Visa deal was tricky and you probably needed to read the how-to twice to ensure you did things the right way then you need to wait a couple of weeks before the game is given to you.

I wish there is something like /dev/null thread for all of those comments.

At this point, i highly doubt it. They really look not very competent. Did they ever? If they had not so many DRM free games, i doubt that anyone would use GOG at all.

At least OP managed to buy 900+ games on this clown platform.
Imagine if it was a serious store :O

It's possibly a bought account or breached one.
wondering if GoG will ever become a legit platform...

P.S.: There are no clowns here, just bears. But they can be equally dangerous.

He was the McDonald's clown, that appeared in some of their older commercials.

Responding to the thread title: I thought the whole point of GOG was for it specifically not to be a 'platform'. As in, it's a store where you can buy standalone game installers and download/play them on any PC. (Unlike Steam, which is very much a platform)
Its better than steam, just for the fact that I control if my game updates or not. I am so sick of playing no man sky and they update on steam, and it turns space into some ravers drugged out fantasy of what space looks like. With gog i just dont let it update and end of story lol.
For me it works great.
GOG has lost a lot of "legit credibility" these last couple of months with continued encroachment of DRM on the platform (No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk 2077) showing that they give fuckall care about their customers and the one thing that sets them apart (above) other platforms.

The shit the OP posted? That's all on the OP...

* My husband got said promotion successfully. It did require a support email due to the original external vendor sending a code that had like a blink of an eye expiration window (he went a weekend without checking email and it expired, but support refreshed it)
* Never had issues downloading, via web, gogdownloader [the best they had], or Galaxy.
* This can be true, but is also true of every vendor in existence right now, in every sector, sadly.
Can someone fill me in on the recent wave of disgruntled customer posts? I've been using GOG the same way for a long time - just buy the game and download the offline installers - and I'm feeling out the loop when it comes to DRM controversies.

1) GOG sells DRMed games from the EGS store now via Galaxy 2.0 (and more DRMed games from other stores are probably coming to GOG next year too).

2) GOG allows No Man's Sky to put some of its content behind a DRM gate of connecting online through Galaxy.

3) CDPR made the terrible decision to double-down on the principle of infesting GOG games with DRM by DRM-gating some of Cyberpunk's content behind Galaxy as well.

In the latter two cases, you aren't getting all of the content in your offline installers. The DRM-gated content is excluded out of them and absent from the game(s) that you downloaded.

Not to mention the plethora of offline installers that aren't up to date as well...
Will GOG ever be more than a Ronald McDonald? You mean the long-time mascot of the most successful fast food restaurant in history?
